  20. On the main page for the Kids Can Heal- Herbs for Kids, regarding the "Parent Resources and Lessons: Herbal Preparations Class" it states: "Note that this parent resource is taken from my adult herbology class online. Please ignore any references to quizzes and tests and use this as an informational guide only. The tests and quizzes are for students enrolled in the adult class." However, on my profile page, there are slots for grades for "Naturopathic Healing Course" Units 1-13 & "Medicine of Avicenna" Units 1-12. Are there assignments I should be submitting for the course, or is it more informational for me?
  21. I recall in one of your Waldorf Connection talks (temperaments?) that you mentioned one of the Naturopathic Healing or Avicenna classes could be audited for $25. 22. Are there any Naturopathic Healing or Medicine of Avicenna classes that would complement the Kids Can Heal- Herbs for Kids course? (Or would related material be added to the KCH-HfK page when available?)
  23. In the "Kids Can Heal- Herbal Healing" e-book there is mention of a two-part video, "Herbal Preparations" Is this the same as the "Herbs for Kids" videos or in addition?
  24. Do Lifetime Members have access to The Avicenna Institute courses?
  25. I was wondering something. I know that at the end of each course we get a certificate/diploma. I was wondering though, the Herbal courses say that it is a Master Herbalist program. Is there a Master Herbalist diploma/certificate that is also awarded upon completion of all the courses, or just the individual certificates/diplomas? Thanks, Jen
  26. I am very interested in taking naturopathic courses at Avicenna Institute. I would like to gain knowledge to help me know how to use food, herbs, vitamins and other nutritional supplements to live a more healthier life. I have taken Nutrilite vitamins and Nature's sunshine herbal supplements and I have read several books on different types of diets (i.e. blood type diet, raw food diet, food combining diet, etc...) however I feel a bit lost in terms of knowing how to really use vitamins and herbs. Do you think the courses at Avicenna Institute could provide me with the information which would help me know how to use and recommend vitamins, herbs and nutritional supplements from Nutrilite and Nature's Sunshine?
  27. I was wondering because of the way regulations are here in Ontario, Canada. Does the Naturopathic program award a Doctorate or is it a diploma? I am just curious so I know for registration purposes with the regulatory bodies here. Thanks so much, Jennifer

  35. I have had a few clients ask about confidentiality and me and laws. I could not find anything in the course about this. Its obvious to me that it will be confidential, no one else should see the info given to me. Do the Hippa Laws apply? Or is there a standard confidentiality form to use for us? If not any ideas on what or how I would type one up for the comfort of others? What I would say in it? I am working with a few that are very worried, I talked to them until they were ok but would love to be able to hand them something that goes over my standards about it.
  36. Hello, I was wondering if you have any suggestions on finding a job in the natural health field. You know I have a clinic, but in my province, NDs are regulated. Because of this, their patients can get insurance coverage for an NDs services. So as a Homeopath/Herbalist, people will go to the NDs over me because they can't get coverage for my services. My Mom and I have been making products, so I am planning on putting them in the clinic and adding a store because i love formulating and compounding products. But, I do need to be able to make money for now to help support my family and doing consultations isn't making that happen. So, I wonder if you have any suggestions on what I could do to make some money in the natural health field until my business/practice builds up. I am working 2 days a week in a pharmacy, but I hate it because it is completely the opposite of what I believe in. Thanks for your help, Jen
  37. Hi, I saw your show at the Iowa State Fair and was wondering if you could help me. I'm 28 and was looking for a natural way to help control my ADD and anxiety. Do you know backyard herbs that could help?
  38. Hi is there a time limit on the completion of the courses. The reason why i ask is that i have not been well,as a result been very slow with assignments.
  39. Hello, I have a quick question. I know that one can gain Master Herbalist certification with you, which I think I received my certificate from you, I'll check my office, but I am pretty sure I got it. I was wondering if there is something lit that for Nutrition? Like a Holistic Nutritionist certification or something. Here in Ontario and most of Canada, there are about 3 schools that award a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, so I was wondering if you have that option as well for say a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, or just Holistic Nutritionist? If so, what would be the designation letters graduates could use? I asked a question not long ago, but o forget what it was, but I know you are busy, so I hope you have it logged in here still. Lastly, my offer still stands. If you need any help with anything school wise, I offer my help to you. Have a great day! Jen
  40. hello i have a boy who is 9 years old who diagonized with ADHD and ODD and some depression they want to put him in medication ritalin,or aderall but i dont want to put him in medication i have a question do you heal kids with this kind of disease i really appreciate it thanks a lot
  41. Can you please let me know the expected amount of study per week and the estimated length of time to complete the course work?
  42. I am working on Unit 3 IHC, in the assignment for ch 3, question # 2 is 1. How do the Islamic temperaments relate or not relate to the homeopathic temperaments? in the course book there is a link to this information but it is not a working link. I am not finding this information any where, what do I do?
  43. kristie, did you mark my reflexology exam part 1?
  44. Hello! I live in UAE and am interested in doing the Avicenna Arabic Medicine course as well as the Naturapathic course. I have recently completed my bachelors (in business), and would like to do this while working, instead of pursuing a Masters degree. I understand that both together cost $750/-? I am completely new to this field, but am very interested in learning alternative healing. Can I pay by credit card and join now? How are the classes conducted? Are they live classes, or is it mainly an exchange of material via email?
  45. This is a question about typology but it concerns a few of the other units I have already done. I wanted to first make a comment on how Kristie is so understanding and very good to work with. Now for my question. I have had a hard time lately with the units I have been doing. I find there is a lot of reading and only one assignment per unit. I am a sequential type of learner and also a self learner. I am very type A personality and chloric. I am finding it hard to focus since there is a lot of reading and one assignment. For me it would be helpful if there was an assignment per chapter. Then I would be able to focus and be able to understand the material more since I had to work at it. Please help me here
  46. In typology I am wondering about the assignment. The assignment is to read parts or chapters of the books that have been inserted. I have a difficulty with it since I have never read any of the books so I feel like it is not a whole picture given to me. I see only a part and that frustrates me. Can we not choose one book? and describe the characters and what humors each character has? I am not sure I understand the question of the assignment 1. Give one example from each reading where the author uses a humor to describe a character. Make a list and give name of the character. Do you use the list of names like fire, earth, air, water? or blood, phlegm, yellow or black bile? or cloric, phlegmatic, meloncholic, and saguin?
  47. Typology--for the assignment the first reading john gower on four humors has no character but only talks of the four humors. so do we ignore this reading?
  48. I was wondering if the individual courses (for instance the herbology or aromatherapy) offers the same material as the course within the Naturopathic program.
  49. If I took a course individually, can it be applied to the Naturopathic program later, both for credit and finacially?
  50. I cannot find the link to upload my final answers to the Nutrition Course 101
  51. I was wondering if you would know whom I could ask regarding this topic of concern to my daughter, who is not vaccinated and does not want to be for health and religious reasons. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, specifically an eye doctor. I fear she will face employment discrimination and perhaps be denied internships, even though according to US law she is allowed a religious exemption and I have actually never had any trouble enrolling her in school or camp. Do you know anyone who has not been vaccinated who became a medical doctor? How did they get around the pressure?

  1. What is the Avicenna Institute of Natural Healing ?
The Avicenna Institute of Natural Healing is an independent school. Classes are held at our classroom worldwide for hands-on studies in herbal preparations, reflexology, iridology, herbal first-aid, herbs for women, and herbs of the Middle East. Online courses are a reflection of our classroom courses with the hands-on experience being done in your own home, rather than in the classroom. The Avicenna Institute is owned and operated by Kristie Karima Burns, MH, ND who is a Naturopathic Doctor, a Master Herbalist, Homeopath, Aromatherapist and Integrated Energy Therapist. The Avicenna School is a cooperative effort and is always looking for educators, healers and resources to contribute to their course. When available we offer chats online and courses with other healers in the area or around the world.

  2. What certification and skills will I gain from these courses?
By taking this course you will learn how to create healing plans for clients using herbs, aromatherapy, homeopathic remedies, reflexology, energy healing, color, music, sound, gems, typology, diet, and more in the tradition of the ancient healers as well as the modern naturopathic healers. You will learn how to detect imbalances in the body using typology and standard naturopathic testing skills. You will learn about medical history in the Arabia, Persia, Ancient Greece, Rome, and Medieval Europe and how these regions contributed to the field of modern medicine and how they influenced each other. You will learn how to prepare herbs in many ways and how to use herbs and other healing modalities. For more information on the topics covered in this course please visit the website at: www.TheAvicennaInstitute.com Certification from the Avicenna Center lets people know that you have completed the required classes to certify you as a Naturopath (or herbalist, aromatherapist or iridologist, etc...depending on which classes you take) and that you have also completed an apprenticeship with a Healer (online or in person, as we also have a physical center) and have studied all aspects of this healing tradition from the historical as well as the practical perspective. A certificate is given for each unit as well as for completing the course. A sample certificate is available to view on the website. The final unit of the course gives many details on how to use your certification in a legal, ethical and responsible manner. There are many doctors, dentists, students, healers and parents using these certificates today. Graduates remain on the student list and are often happy to answer questions about how they use their certificate.

  3. How can I use the information in these courses?
The last unit of the course goes into great detail about how one can use their certificate safely and in the most effective manner. In only two states of the USA are people allowed to "practice" natural healing - and only then if they have attended the one of two physical colleges in the USA that are recognized by the medical profession. So this is a very important unit in the course. Although you will get the details in the last unit of the course I can give you a summary now: As a general guideline you should not present yourself as "practicing medicine". You will be "teaching" and "helping" people learn how to use herbs, natural methods and foods to enrich their lives and help them feel better. What is exciting about this method of consulting is that it actually works BETTER than the modern medical method of "diagnosis and prescribing". I have many people come to me after the doctors have run out of ideas, after they have lost hope or perhaps because they cannot even pinpoint what is wrong. After simply showing them how their body is working or not working in the right ways and teaching them to use better foods, herbs and therapies they have enjoyed lives that are healthier, more vibrant and more enriching. I have a thriving online and in-person consultation service. Many graduates of The Avicenna Institute have businesses as health consultants, herbalists, reflexologists, iridologists, or homeopaths. Some graduates write health articles for magazines and newspapers and some sell natural living products. There are also many massage therapists, doctors and dentists who are using these classes to enhance an already established business.

  4. Can you send me the course materials via US postal service/snail mail instead of online?
This is an online course. All information comes to you via the Internet. This includes online lectures, e-mails, Internet sites, instructional videos, books, personal conversations with the instructor, charts, guides, tests, and assignments. Sending materials by post would increase the cost of the course into the thousands of dollars. If you are still interested in this option I can send you the data on how much the books and postage for test corrections by hand would cost via regular mail.

  5. Where can I find out more about Kristie Karima Burns, MH, ND?
A resume and background information is located on the website: www.TheAvicennaInsitute.com. Note that this resume is specific to natural healing and does not include complete information on other areas. By browsing the website www.TheBEarthinstitute.com you will also find many client feedback statements, videos and other information.

  6. Is there set starting date for the course or can I start any time?
You may start the course at any time. There are enough students taking the courses so that at any point in time you will find at least one or two other students working on the same unit as you are, or you will be able to post questions to the student list and ask advice from students who have finished the unit you are working on.

  7. I am having difficulty reaching you by e-mail. How can I reach you?
There are many reasons - the most common being that your e-mail was lost or the one I sent to you was lost. For this reason I hold official student office hours are every Friday. This is so you know I have a day set aside for your mail and if I DON'T respond by that day something has gone wrong. Please write to me again if you do not hear from me. The best way to reach me is by Facebook, phone or my new Gmail account. All students have my phone number and Facebook information.

  9. How do I find my e-book?
Thank you for your patience. I am usually out of town on the weekends and don't get back until Sunday evenings or Monday mornings. Did you receive the welcome letter I sent you with your password? Once you enter your account the E-book is there under "Member Pages", The Avicenna Institute, Reflexology class (note: this question was from a student of the reflexology class). You will find all your materials on that page. If you did not receive your welcome letter you can go to: www.TheAvicennaInstitute.com and click on "forgot password" and then enter your e-mail as the username. The system will send you a new password or instructions on how to set one. Let me know if you have additional questions or problems with the system.

  10. I want to purchase a camera to take pictures of the iris for the iridology course. I know it is not required but I heard another student say they used their regular digital camera for this. I don't have a digital camera. What should I look for if I buy one?
When purchasing a digital camera for iridology ask the people at the camera store for something that has a macro (close up) setting. Take a coin out of your purse (about the size of an iris) and test the camera on the coin or on someone's eye that is with you. Purchase the camera that gives you the clearest and closest picture.

  11. You indicate that you are offering a discount to students who enroll in the Medicine of Avicenna and Naturopathic Healing Course because there are four classes that are the same. Which classes are the same between these two courses?
Nutritional Healing is 70% the same. Herbal Preparations is 100% the same. Typology of Avicenna is 100% the same. Consultations is 80% the same. If you enroll in both classes the cost is $750.00 instead of $1000.00.

To obtain the ND you need to complete all the ND requirements. However, you can substitute some of the Medicine of Avicenna classes for the homeopathy classes. If you do this, then you would need to complete three of the Medicine of Avicenna classes instead of the two homeopathic courses.

  13. When you marked my exam you included some helpful comments but when I looked in the readings I did not see that information. Did you mark my exam lower because I got these answers "wrong"?
You did not get marked as having these answers "wrong". Often, the comments I include in exams do not have a lot to do with the final score you are awarded. I always make an effort to add extra comments to be helpful to add extra information that comes to mind that may not have been included in the course material. Your final score is based on: 1. Neatness of the exam. 2. How many answers you answered correctly or with understanding. 3. Proper use of citations. 4. Length of answer.

  14. English is not my first language. Can I still take your classes? Do they require a lot of reading? What about the exams? I find it hard to express myself completely in written English, although my spoken skills are fine.
Many of the classes come with MP3s that you can listen to. These are also good for people who are busy. I am not so concerned about how "exactly" you answer each question. I just need to see, from my end, that you have comprehended the material and have enough understanding to write an answer that is descriptive and relays understanding. If it is easier for you to submit your exams in audio format that is also fine (you can record MP3s and send them to me via e-mail). I know for some people, if English is a second language, it is harder for them to express themselves in English. Additionally, some students are so busy they may not feel they have enough time to write out all the answers or writing may not be their strong suit. In either case you can choose to record audio and send it to me (if you choose to) using www.Audacity.com or any other program you wish.

You cannot download the documents without getting an account with Scribd. You do not need an account with Facebook. The reason your download button is on the wrong side and does not work is because you are not logged in. I answered your second question in another FAQ. Please submit only one question per box. Thank you!

Which direction do the words run off? Did you actually download it from the site? Can you forward the file to me at: herbnhome@gmail.com so I can see what is wrong? Thanks! Please remember to be as specific as possible when asking questions. The more specifics you give me up front the more quickly I can help. If you think you are sending me too much information that is great! Too much is better than not enough! I can answer your question as soon as I get more information. Thanks!

You may choose what it says on your certificate as long as it is related to the Naturopathic Doctorate in some way. You may also choose how the certificate is phrased. You may want it to say "(name) has completed the required courses for a degree in..." or you may simply want it to say, "(name) has been awarded the designation of..." Any of the options you mentioned above are possible titles you may choose for your final certificate.

  18. how do toxic settlements present in brown eyes? How about yeast? brown eyes are not showing very much by way of toxins unless I am misreading.
If the eyes are very very dark brown/almost black then you will only be able to get a partial iridology reading from them - especially if they have a "velvet" texture instead of a threaded texture like most irises. However, if they are light enough brown and have "spokes" of any kind you can see then all you need is some more light to distinguish the colors. The best way to do this is to sit your client near a sunny window or bright lamp and use a pen-light OR take a photograph from many angles using flash photography.

This is a good question! The answer is that you do not need to submit any tests or exams. Those slots for the exam results come up on everyone's page but I only fill them in for students who are enrolled. The system I am using does not allow me to create different profile pages for different members so I use the same profile page for all members but I just fill in the information each member needs and ignore some of the slots for others.

  21. I recall in one of your Waldorf Connection talks (temperaments?) that you mentioned one of the Naturopathic Healing or Avicenna classes could be audited for $25. I can only find pricing for certification classes. Is it still possible to audit classes, and is there a fee schedule for the different courses?
With the new website I am unable to offer audit options since it costs me "per member" to add someone to the new website. Thus, the cost of the audit course would be canceled out by the fee I am charged for each student.

  22. Are there any Naturopathic Healing or Medicine of Avicenna classes that would complement the Kids Can Heal- Herbs for Kids course? (Or would related material be added to the KCH-HfK page when available?)
The following classes pair with the "Kids Can Heal" classes: Herbs for Kids - Herbal Healing Classes Typology for Kids - Temperaments and Typology Reflexology for Kids - Reflexology Iridology for Kids - Iridology I & II Blessings & Health, Kristie

There is a two part video that is only about preparing herbs. I will upload it to the "Kids Can Heal: Herbs" page tonight so if anyone else finds this FAQs you will be able to find the two herbal preparation videos on the web page where all your other materials are.

  24. Do Lifetime Members have access to The Avicenna Institute courses?
The Avicenna Institute courses are a separate school. Students of The Avicenna Institute are working towards degrees in natural healing such as a Masters in Herbalism, Naturopathic Doctorate and other degrees. They are classes for adults and not for children.

Thanks, Jen
You can choose to forgo the four individual certificates and opt for the Master Herbalist certificate for all four courses.

I have worked with some people who use Nature's Sunshine herbs and met many of them at conferences I attended. Most of them seemed very interested in iridology as the methods taught in iridology give you direct insight into which herbal combinations people need. For example, if you looked into the irises of someone's eyes and saw that their kidney's were not working optimally then you would know they would benefit from Nature's Sunshine Kidney/Adrenal blends. Two iridology courses are part of the Naturopathic Courses. However, the courses I teach also go beyond that and also give you insight into which herbs are best for which temperament and which herbs are best for a person based on the properties of their symptoms (hot-cold/wet-dry) rather than just the popular "here is an herb for a headache" method that many people use (which is not a very effective method of taking herbs). The course is very thorough in its coverage of how to use herbs as I have found that many books do not provide enough information in this area. I remember when I first started learning about herbs I would look through about twenty books and they would all tell me so much about the herbs but not how to use them! It was very frustrating! As you do the assignments in the course you also have numerous possibilities to personalize the course to your needs. You could do your assignments based on the Nature's Sunshine herbs and during the time when we talk about your assignment or exam (via e-mail) you could ask me specific questions about them you may have. Many students do this. Students in Africa tend to focus on the herbs in their area, students in the Middle East ask me about herbs in those areas and yet other students focus on aromatherapy or on food or different supplements. Many of the assignments have a flexible nature to them and allow you to create your own focus.

  27. I was wondering because of the way regulations are here in Ontario, Canada. Does the Naturopathic program award a Doctorate or is it a diploma? I am just curious so I know for registration purposes with the regulatory bodies here. Thanks so much, Jennifer
The Naturopathic program awards a doctorate. However, each country still has its own regulations on credit hours, accreditation and other requirements. Some countries don't even recognize naturopathic doctors at all! You can see the accreditation and credit hours page for more specific information.

  31. Hi, I hope I have done this ok and this is not consulting - sorry not sure. We are very new to Waldorf methods, and I am going round in circles trying to decide which grade to choose for each of my children. 1st = 11yrs 2mths -should he be g6 2nd = 10yrs 6 mths-should he be g5 3rd = 9yrs 5 mts -should he be g4 4th = 6yrs 1 mth - should he be g1 5th = 4 yrs 1mth - should he be kg Thank you for any help Best wishes, Paula
Thank you for asking. There are a few factors I take into consideration when figuring out which Waldorf year a child should be in. First, the age - certain ages correspond with certain years and this is especially important for the younger children (ages 3-7); Secondly, the physical development of the child - a child is considered in first grade when they lose their first tooth rather than when they are exactly seven; Thirdly, their exposure to mainstream education and where they are now in their educational experience - for example, if a child has already learned how to read and write they may benefit from a combination of first and second grade instead of just first grade. With the numbers you have given me I would say that your 11-year-old is in 6th grade, your 10 year-old could be in 5th or 6th grade, your 9-year-old is in Waldorf 3rd grade but could be in 4th grade depending on his past experience in school. It is always better to go with the lower grade if he has not been in Waldorf before. The fourth child who is 6 years-old will be in 1st grade when he loses his first tooth. However, he will be in the later parts of KG now and will be getting ready for first grade. Depending on his past school experience he may even be ready to start some of the first grade materials. Let me know if you have additional questions. I hope I didn't make it more complicated :)

  32. Hello and good morning! I'm very interested in The Avicenna Institute. Do you require any prerequisites to enter the school?
There are no prerequisites for enrollment other than a desire to learn. I find that the best students are those that have a desire to learn and an interest in the topics being taught. A student's past interests, hobbies, studies, and work may help them complete the course materials more quickly. However, everyone is welcome to enroll in the classes. Students range from home-makers and high school students to doctors, massage therapists and even a dentist. The reasons students enroll are also many. Some students enroll for the degree because they plan on using the degree to open a business. Other students enroll simply to use the information for themselves or their family.

You can find numerous examples of these forms on the Internet. Each person needs to create their own form based on the services they offer, the concerns of their clients and any specific concerns they might have. As you can see from the examples you need to address any or all of the following: payments, cancellations, what you offer, what you do not offer, how you handle their information, confidentiality, etc... Here are some examples of what other practitioners have done (you can also do a Google search of "Confidentiality form Natural Healer" or "medical confidentiality form" 1. http://izabellatabarovsky.typepad.com/files/ht-consent-and-confidentiality-form.pdf 2. http://friedmanchiro.com/privacy.htm 3. http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-resources/legal-topics/patient-physician-relationship-topics/patient-confidentiality.page 4. http://www.medteamstaffing.com/pdf/pt-conf-agreement.pdf Blessings & Health, Dr. Kristie Karima Burns, MH, ND

When I first started doing healing work I used to offer a lot of local classes. At first these were free evening seminars at the local library or for a local group like the Girl Scouts or Kiwana's Club. However, after I built a mailing list I was able to offer classes for a fee. During the summer parents appreciate natural healing "summer camps" for kids, during the holidays people love "make your own gifts" classes and of course any classes on herbal preparations, aphrodisiacs and female remedies are always a "hit". I would say classes would be the best method because you can fit them into your schedule easily and you have the potential to make multiple incomes depending on how many people attend. You do not have to be a certified healer or have any degree to teach a class. You simply need to know more than your students about the class you are teaching. Another idea is to offer "mini-consultations" after your free (or fee) talks and give people a "flavor" of what they need to know. My favorite is to offer a "Ten-Point Iridology Reading" - the person gets a lot of insight and the reading only takes about 15 minutes. If you offer a photo of their iris to go with it you can charge the market rate of about $25.00 for a mini-reading. Products, as you mentioned, are also good. However, in today's world you need to have an online presence as well as a physical store. A good idea would also be to sell at Farmer's Markets, local markets and other locations around town. You can also set up these "mini-consults" for groups of people without a talk or class attached to them. It would be great if you could also post this question to the student list and see what other students are doing.

Jen
You receive CHN after your name when you become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. You can earn this by "adding on" this certification to your degree. An add-on can be purchased on the Payment Page at www.TheAvicennaInstitute.com and requires that you read some extra assigned materials, write an assigned paper and show evidence of 6 hours of clinical or lab work (you are given instructions on how to do this) and have it evaluated. You are welcome to join us for group consulting once a week or for a private consult via www.Herbnhome.com. Of course, to give consulting advice I would also need all of the basic information via the "new client form" filled out. Although different conditions have different names this does not mean that each person can be healed in the same way. One of the greatest mistakes people make is to use "general advice" for different conditions. When this is done, healing often is not effective and people blame natural healing for "not working". Natural healing only works if a program is designed in a holistic and individual way. There are also some past consulting sessions you can download from the website if you are looking to explore a variety of options on your own: http://thebearthinstitute.memberlodge.com/Webinars Blessings & Health, Dr. Kristie Karima Burns, MH, ND

  41. Can you please let me know the expected amount of study per week and the estimated length of time to complete the course work?
Both The Medicine of Avicenna and The Naturopathic Healing Course require about 3-15 actual hours of study per week for two years. The reason this number is so varied is because some students progress much more quickly due to past experience, or ability to read or absorb information at a faster pace. However, this estimate can help you make other calculations. For example, one student in the course was able to finish the two year course in four months by working about 40 hours a week and passing out of some classes (due to past experience). Other students have spent 20 hours a week during the summer and only 1-2 hours a week during the "school-year". Still other students have worked for one year, taken a year off and then completed the courses the next year. The rate and pace you work at is completely up to you.

How do the Islamic temperaments relate or not relate to the homeopathic temperaments? in the course book there is a link to this information but it is not a working link. I am not finding this information any where, what do I do?
Can you send me the link that is "supposed" to be working? Did you check for an alternate link on The Avicenna Institute page? There should be alternate links for everything at this point - for that link the alternate should be listed on the Typology and Temperament page (for the Naturopathic Healing Course) or under the Temperament section of The Medicine of Avicenna page. If there is no alternate link there I can put one there if you let me know the URL of the exact link in question.

Thank you for your interest in The Avicenna Institute. You can join the classes instantly online. The cost for one course is $750.00. The cost for both courses is $1250.00. The payment page is located here: http://thebearthinstitute.memberlodge.com/alternatepayments You can pay by credit card. The classes are taught using many different methods and updates happen regularly. At this time the classes are offered with a mixture of: 1. Video 2. MP3 lectures 3. E-books 4. E-lectures 5. E-Articles 6. E-Reference Books All the materials are located on the student website and are available for immediate download once you pay. You are also given access to the student Forum, student resource page, Facebook page and student Yahoogroups list. Exams and assignments are corrected personally by one of our teachers. This service is included with the cost of the courses. Certificates are issued for each unit and a final diploma is issued when all the courses are completed. This is also included in the cost. Anyone may enroll in the courses. You do not need to have previous experience. However, previous experience does give some students the ability to work more quickly through some of the material they have experience with. Let me know if you have additional questions. Please help me here
Part of your grade and what you are expected to learn or practice during these courses is based on your ability to find information or remember where it is located. That is why many of the exams are "open book". In the professional world of healing, when you are called on to use this information to heal a client one of your most useful skills will not be your memorization of many facts, but will be your ability to find the material you "know you know". One idea to make this process easier would be to read the exams FIRST and then have them sitting by you as you do the readings so you can make notes (as to what page numbers you will be using to answer) or highlight readings according to the questions. I hope this helps. Blessings & Health, Dr. Kristie Burns, Mh, ND

Even though you have not read the entire books I have chosen parts that give you "clues" to the humor or type of each character. This is very similar to what you will find when you see a client. You will never have "read the whole book" of a client and know them completely even if you ask 100 questions but they WILL give you small clues about what is wrong and who they are. This is the practice of this assignment. When answering the question you should make a list of each of the readings. After each reading on the list put the name of a character from that reading. After the name of the character from that reading you should put the name of the temperament they have. You should use the terms: Melancholic, Sanguine, Choleric or Phlegmatic.

The best place to find out this information is the National Vaccine Information Center. They provide stories (this is what you are looking for) about nurses and doctors and how they deal with the pressure/legality and tons of information in general. They are at: http://www.nvic.org - They also have a great newsletter. Their site can be a bit "dramatic" at times because their focus is on mostly the negative reactions of people to the vaccines and they don't talk a lot about the children who are fine despite being vaccinated. I am not a fan of vaccines but my children were forced to be vaccinated because we lived overseas and we would have lost our passports and been kicked out of the country (and my hubby would have lost his job) if they didn't at the time. We made the decision to let him keep his job and family because we didn't have a choice financially - but I did take the precautions of getting the vaccines done when they were older, getting them done separately (and not three at a time as they usually did) AND made sure the kids were in perfect condition before they went in 24-hours before AND gave them homeopathic remedies to counteract any potential side-effects. My three children were fine. The website I recommended can help her/you navigate the issues you may face if she chooses to remain unvaccinated. However, there are many precautions she can take to get vaccinated if she also ends up in a difficult position like we were in. First, it is much safer to get vaccinated as a healthy adult than it is as a child. Secondly, there are precautions you can take as we did, and third, as an adult she can make an informed decision at that time if the real risks at that time outweigh the benefits for her. Who knows...vaccines may develop by then...natural vaccination may become popular and legal...laws may change...but it is important to get the real numbers on risk for adults and for each individual vaccine and circumstance (what condition the person is when they get it done and how many they get at once, etc...) and compare them to other things we do in our lives like driving, taking an airplane or drinking tap water. The site I gave you won't give you the real risk numbers (they make them higher) and the CDC makes them lower so when the time comes she will need to find a reliable source of information on the particular vaccines she may need to get IF she chooses that route.
