  1. Looking for a missing line to a verse I seem to have forgotten. There's a star in the sky (both hands up) A star in the sea (hands low and open) ???????????????????? (hands outstretched) And a star in me (hands over your heart) The movement emulates a five point star. This verse would be used in conjunction with The Apple Star story. Thanks Kristie
  2. Grade 4 Schedule - I noticed that you mention that there are 6 lesson blocks in the Grade 4 Schedule, but only see 5, with a blank page at the end of the document. Are there actually 5 or 6 blocks for Grade 4?
  3. Should follow-up questions or comments to answered FAQ submissions be sent as email replies or additional FAQ submissions?
  4. I am trying to understand the "forum" you are talking about. Is it included for lifetime members? Thanks, Tea
  5. How do I sign up for the live consulting chats as a member? Is this service available for Lifetime members? Are these chats recorded?
  6. I get the same email from you via 3 different sources. One is via: WaldorfEnrichmentSchoolMembers The second is via: Waldorf/EarthSchooling And then I get one directly from Kristie Burns herbnhome@yahoo.com. I might even get one more, is that possible? I don't doubt that I probably signed up for all of these at some point, but it is now too much to read things in triplicate. Can you explain each of these lists/groups? I am a lifetime member and just want the one most pertinate and effective form of communication. Thank you
  7. How can I download videos to my computer, Ipad, Kindle or other electronic device?
  8. How can I download your E-books to my Kindle?
  9. Hello, I am very interested in your lecture on working with sensory processing issues naturally and wonder if there is any way of purchasing that individual lecture? Thanks so much! Kimberley
  10. Hi Kristie. I was looking through the member directory and was wondering what the difference between a 'Earthschool Lifetime Access' and 'Earthschool Lifetime Memeber'
  11. I'm a new member! I joined and bought the kindergarten curriculum ~24 hours ago, but haven't received a welcome letter yet, so I don't know how to access the curriculum. I paid via Paypal but did not receive the sale price, so I'm not sure what I did wrong there either! So sorry. Thank you.
  12. I'm organizing a co-op purchase of the Bearth Institute curriculum, and the question was brought to my attention of whether Canadians could participate. I don't see any reason why they couldn't, but wanted to double check on that. Thank you!

Dear Kimberly, I looked for it myself a bit since I am not familiar with it but I didn't find it. You might try asking on the larger list (Waldorfschoolonline@yahoogroups.com). One tip I can offer for verses and stories is to just add in something you made up yourself. I have spent hours in the past searching for stories or verse endings but soon realized if I just made up an ending that it only took a few moments and that is how the stories and verses came about originally anyway. I have to admit the first few times I did it I still had a sense of annoyance and wondering about the original verse. It really bugged me LOL! However, over time that feeling went away. As I created more and more stories and more and more verses myself it became more of a comfortable feeling to just add in things and I even started changing verses I didn't like 100%. It was hard at first but now it is much easier for me. Based on where you can find star shapes in nature (oranges, flowers, melons, etc...) I would add the third verses as: "A star in the tree" or (since hands are outstretched) "Stars covering the meadow" (referring to flowers) Blessings & Health, Kristie

Dear Robin, There are five blocks for Grade Four. There is a misprint in the "introduction" I wrote. I do usually rotate them, as I said, though, in blocks of 6-9 by shortening some of the blocks and doing them twice. Especially with math, this gives the student(s) time to absorb and then come back to ideas.

  3. Should follow-up questions or comments to answered FAQ submissions be sent as email replies or additional FAQ submissions?
It is best to start by posting a question to the FAQs. When I answer I can choose to make the answer public or not. If it is a private question or a follow-up that I don't feel would add to the FAQs I can choose not to click the button that says "add to FAQs" and the answer will go only to you.

  4. I am trying to understand the "forum" you are talking about. Is it included for lifetime members? Thanks, Tea
The forum benefits are described on the website at: http://thebearthinstitute.memberlodge.com/ForumInfo For now, Lifetime Members have access. This is not part of the Lifetime Member package and may change at some time in the future. However, for now, all Lifetime Members have free access. When you log into your account at www.TheBEarthInstitute.com you will see buttons for the forum to the left.

  5. How do I sign up for the live consulting chats as a member? Is this service available for Lifetime members? Are these chats recorded?
Once you log into your account at www.TheBEarthInstitute.com you will see a page in the left hand column that says "Forum Members". You can click on this page and you will then find two sign up pages. All chats are recorded. To be granted access to the live chats, member forums, private member BLOG and more you need to be a Lifetime Member of Earthschooling or a forum member. However, live consulting hours, group consulting chats and consulting archives are available only for members of the forum. Lifetime members and students of The Avicenna Institute are not automatically members of the extra consulting feature. Chats are different from the consulting hours. Member forums are always open and are for members to chat with each other. Live Chats happen four times a year and are always open and free to Lifetime Members and Forum Members. Consulting hours are open daily and specific topics are featured on a weekly basis. This means that if you are a forum member you have daily opportunities to receive help on any homeschooling and health questions you may have and are welcome to drop by any time during a scheduled consulting time, during the live hour each day or to request a topic and time.

I usually send out two e-mails which may be duplicated for some people. I send a message out to Waldorfschoolonline@yahoogroups.com and via Constant Contact e-mail service (which may be the one that shows from Kristie Burns). I need to send these two messages out because at least half the members of the groups are not the same. However, I do not always send out two messages. You should not be getting 4 messages. However, you could be getting 3 from time to time when I also post to the member's group. I only do this perhaps once or twice a month if there is a deadline or a certain date for something (like me coming to Colorado for two days last minute announcement). However, what I could do is just ask people who are on the member list to make sure they are also on the general list or the Constant Contact mailing list. Once I send out this announcement I can stop sending duplicates to the member list. However, I cannot stop sending two to the other lists because they are different. If you want to continue receiving mailings from Earthschooling only then you can remain a member of the Constant Contact list but remove your name from the Waldorfschoolonline@yahoogroups list. If you are interested in interacting with other Waldorf parents from around the globe AND receiving Earthschooling mailings then you could remain on the Waldorfschoolonlone@yahoogroups.com list and click unsubscribe on the Constant Contact mailing. If I do my part and you unsubscribe from one of the lists I mentioned above, that should bring you down to one e-mail and not 3 :)

  7. How can I download videos to my computer, Ipad, Kindle or other electronic device?
Many of the videos have a download button near the video that you can use. If they don't then here are some options: Note that the steps will be: 1. Download the video to your computer 2. Make sure it is in the proper format (1 and 2 are sometimes done together) 3. Use your USB cord to transfer the video to your IPAD, Kindle or other device. Now I will show you how to do steps 1 & 2. Even though this is long - don't worry! You will probably only need the first few sentences of these instructions.... How to Download Videos and Convert them from ANYWHERE online: If you just need to convert then this is the easiest way - if you use the free version it works amazing. You just get their logo in the corner which does not hurt the video any at all. I used their free version for years! http://www.moyea.com/video-converter/ If you are on a site where you are having trouble even downloading the video and you still want to convert it.... To download the video (if you don't want to watch it online) you can use the download button on the page. If you need to convert the video you can download a free program called: http://vlc-download.com/download-vlc/?gclid=CNf96tzltaYCFQjrKgoddRc6JQ If you have trouble downloading the video (browser trouble, computer or other issues) or are unfamiliar with video downloading you can also download a video capture program (for free) that will allow you to capture and save ANY video file from anywhere on the Internet (once you install and use this you will be using it for a long time into the future): You DO NOT NEED to do this to view the video you just purchased and there IS a download option on the link I just sent you. I am just providing this as "helpful information" as it is my favorite way to download all videos (even if there IS a download button ;) How to Download Videos •It is worth making the investment to download what you need to capture video from anywhere. You will purchase videos, you will find them on BLOGs, you will find them on Youtube and other sites. If you purchase a video and try to figure out how to download just that one video from that one website you will be wasting your time. You need to use a program that works for everything so your time investment is less. So although I am going to tell you to invest 15 minutes or less in downloading two (possibly) new things – you need to do this. •FIRST – you must download Firefox browser. For many reasons I always advise everyone to use this browser anyway. If you don't want to use it then just download it for this reason only. It is worth it. Many people are already using this so you won't have to download it. To download it go to: www.Firefox.com . However you must have the updated version to do what you need to do with it so go there and download even if you have it so you can make sure to have the most recent edition. It may ask you to download an updated Flash Player. Do this. A Flash player helps you view videos online. •SECOND – download the extension to go with this browser from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006/?src=discovery-pane •THIRD – Install the converter at: http://www.downloadhelper.net/install-converter.php •NOW whenever you go to a website where there is a video you will be able to download it. The download detector with start spinning and you click on the down arrow and it will give you options – you will usually choose "download and convert". •The video will be saved in your Downloads or Temporary folder.

  8. How can I download your E-books to my Kindle?
An increasing number of members are using Kindles and Ipads which is great because one of my goals with being online is to save paper and make this a program you can easily take with you anywhere. Cloud? We've been on the cloud since 2009! Since 2009 you could always log in from any device and access your files :) However, converting some of these to specific devices has provided more of a challenge. The site that you download from is supposed to be converting them to Kindle but I recently was informed (and tests confirm) that it is actually sending everyone PDFs so either we are using the Scribd system wrong or it is not really sending the mobile data. I just found this out last week so I've not had a chance to repair this on the site or on the documents. It will take me weeks to convert all the documents individually and change the wording on the website (although this is still my goal over time) so what I am doing now is suggesting that people do their own conversions online. This has worked really well for other members that have Kindles. The site I used to convert for someone (to test it) was: http://www.online-convert.com/ So, until we can get everything instantly ready for you - it is very easy for you to convert online for free. You just need to: 1. Upload and convert file 2. Download it to your computer 3. Use your USB cord to transfer it to your device. The scribd page WILL download to your device but it sends you a PDF which only works well in Ipads and other devices with larger screens.

  10. Hi Kristie. I was looking through the member directory and was wondering what the difference between a 'Earthschool Lifetime Access' and 'Earthschool Lifetime Memeber'
These are the same. However, the new name for both will be "Family Plan Curriculum Package" as this is more descriptive of the service.

  11. I'm a new member! I joined and bought the kindergarten curriculum ~24 hours ago, but haven't received a welcome letter yet, so I don't know how to access the curriculum. I paid via Paypal but did not receive the sale price, so I'm not sure what I did wrong there either! So sorry. Thank you.
I apologize. You should have your order now. Let me know if you still have not received a welcome letter. There are a few circumstances that may cause delays in an order or response to a FAQs: 1. During the summer (June, July, August) when I do a lot of traveling I am sometimes unable to get online for up to 24 hours at a time. 2. During the weekends when there are no official office hours 3. If there has been an unexpected or emergency situation I have had to deal with. 4. If an order is made late at night or an another time zone the office may already be closed for the day and the order may not be filled until the next day. 5. During sales I need to manually fill orders so orders may take up to 24 hours to receive. However, at any time, if you wonder why an order is delayed or a response is delayed you can check my "business updates" page on Facebook. I usually post all delays on that page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kristie-Karima-Burns-MH-ND/149528928430703

Yes, they can. We already have two co-ops that are 100% Canadian so they may even find some neighbors on the Earthschooling forum :)
