Subject:   What's wrong with Casa Ybel?

Message:   I was disturbed to read the comments of Eddy D in his posting dated April 4 and even more disturbed by Carl's seizing on the complaint to repeat his vendetta against the organizations that have the responsibility of making Casa Ybel a resort that a vast majority of owners love and to which they return year after year. We have vacationed at Casa Ybel every year since 1980 except when it was closed after hurrican Charley and that year we rented a unit at the resort next door during our weeks.

In case the reader is not familiar with this forum, Carl's complaints are as follows, his doesn't like Dick Jackson, Hilton, Casa Ybel hospitality and the members of the board of directors.

I am serving the second year of my term as a director. I read the comments of this forum and check it at least twice a week. I know at least one other board member is a regular reader also. I also receive and read all of the comments from the weekly owners coffees. Complaints at the coffees are few, and 99% of the complaints are unit specific and either have already been corrected or could have been corrected more quickly if the complaint had been made to the office. Favorable comments are expressed at nearly every coffee.

Most of the votes of the board are unanamous, but that doesn't mean that the matters have not been thoroughly discussed by the board and any changes or correctons made before the vote. We are well served by Hilton's managment team. Your directors are present at the resort only a few weeks a year at most and without the guidance of our managers, most problems would not even be noticed, much less rectified.

Can we make the resort better? Probably, but to do so, we need to know what owners want done to make it better. The sale of the amenities happened years ago, we can't do anything about it. The weddings, while objectionable to some, are helping maintain our restaurant, which struggled for many years.

My email address is llperk@aol.com, I am always interested in your suggestions for improving Casa Ybel and you should feel free to send them to me.

Thank you for your confidence in electing me to your board of directors.
