Bad Start
Craig Monroe takes the Silver Sombrero (0-for-4 w/4 K) on opening day. Ouch. |
Keith
Apr 2nd, 2007 - 9:19 PM |
John Patterson, 3.2IP, 7H, 6R, 3BB, 2K, 1 HR. If he pitches like that, how are Jerome Williams and Jason Bergmann going to perform, I shudder to think. |

Chad Durbin - 2/3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 1 K - 94.50 ERA |
Keith
Apr 4th, 2007 - 5:47 PM |
I believe that is our first Turbo Tanking of the year, folks! If we'd started a pool, no one would have picked Durbin, seeing as how no one would have expected him to start the 2nd game of the season. |

Apr 4th, 2007 - 7:37 PM |
Those stats are incorrect - no one has been Turbo Tanked yet, and Chad Durbin hasn't even pitched yet this season. Where did that stat line come from? |
Harper
Apr 4th, 2007 - 7:39 PM |
Chad Durbin did no such thing. Where did you get that stat line from? |
Keith
Apr 4th, 2007 - 9:52 PM |
Ah, it was JD in relief for the D'Backs! If we're not counting Contreras, that means there's still a first Turbo Tanking up for grabs somewhere. Who combines for a worse ERA this year: the Durbins or the Wrights? |
Rich

My apologies to Chad and his family for any undue embarrasment I may have caused. No apologies for J.D. however. |

Here is an interesting set of blogs concerning a potential doctorer of baseballs, F-Rod. |

Tony

I'm sure Everett has gotten to about 5 more balls than average SS despite his errors. |
Rich
Apr 10th, 2007 - 6:05 AM |
Everett does lead the majors in total chances and range factor though he's only tied for 9th in zone rating but that's hardly the point is it? |
Keith
Apr 10th, 2007 - 2:34 PM |
Of course, Everett is also the best hitter on the Astros right now. |
Rich
Apr 10th, 2007 - 9:28 PM |

I was forced into a Jason Bartlett/Ben Zobrist fantasy situation with injuries to Furcal and Sanchez. Not pretty. |
Tony
Apr 12th, 2007 - 5:14 PM |
Take Zobrist. |

I did drop Bartlett when Freddy Sanchez came of the DL, and Zobrist rewarded me with a homer. |

Last season with Oakland, Antonio Perez went 10-for-98 to record this less than inspiring line - .102/.185/.204/.389. Just a year ealier he hit .298/.360/.398/.758 in 259 AB for the Dodgers. This year so far for the Sacramento River Cats (despite batting .298/.388/.474/.862 in spring training) Perez is 2-for-21 with a walk and 7 strikeouts. 2007 - .095/.136/.143/.279 |

Oh that wayword J.D. Durbin. From the Phillies web site... "J.D. Durbin received an extensive education in the waiver process over the past month, as the right-handed reliever joined his fourth team in 17 days. The Phillies claimed Durbin from the Red Sox on Wednesday, a day after Boston designated him for assignment. He's working out in Clearwater, Fla., and the Phillies have 72 hours to decide whether to add him to the 25-man roster. If not, he'll have to clear waivers before he can be optioned to the Minors. Durbin, 24, spent Spring Training with the Twins, the team that made him a second-round pick in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, and was claimed by the Diamondbacks on March 29. He appeared in one game for Arizona, and allowed seven earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, compiling a 94.50 ERA. The Red Sox claimed him on April 11, and now he's found his way to the Phillies. Durbin is the third reliever picked up by Philadelphia since Opening Day, joining Francisco Rosario and Rick Bauer." |
