Flint covered driveways...
From off of another thread... About 3 years ago, my dad got a bunch of flint looking rock hauled into to cover the bottom of his driveway. Just recently my 7 yr. old son brought a piece of flint to me from his driveway that looked like it had been worked on. I just shrugged it off and didn't really give it a thought. I'm not sure where this rock came from but I'm sure it was taken out of a river or creek bottom....my dad has a bunch of it. Have any of y'all ever found artifacts in material that was hauled in for driveways? Would it be worth my time to look through it good? |

Hey Johnny, When I was in high school I found some black obsedian that had been worked on a train tack. There were also some obsedian points found too. That rock was quarried out from oregon so that's how it ended up in texas. I have found some worked pieces like what you have said from a rock garden. I guess anything is possible. |

Here in Northwest Oklahoma they bring truck loads of white flint type rock in to build up around wellheads in the oil field and to build firewalls around tank batteries. I have found some scrapers that have been worked but never any points. That doesn't mean that the wont show up. It is worth a look anyway. |
