WOOO-HOOOO

Well it took tons of sweat and such but I found one.
It all started the other day when I dug a point that looks to me to have been left in the fire too long,or was left in what ever beast they ate.The scraper was near as well. Then yesterday I dug the pice of bone(I was gettin closer)Then when I was tierd of sweating(it made the billions of bug bites itch.)I gave a root one more tug,and down it fell...WoW what a feelin.

blade?tip and point

That's one thing I love about digging. You just never know what's underneath your feet. Nice work.

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

It go's from a good feeling to a serious fever! Congrats! Hey what depth did you find that? Just trying to figure out the type. It looks a bit like a little nolan to me,or an early stemmed.

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

Very nice, even the work on that scraper rates it pretty high in the tool catagory.
For your very first point, why couldnt you have picked something like an Andice or Perd? Sure has the Nolan outline but the predominent beveled base is not evident [ at least in the pic ] That hint of a curve in the base made me look at the Uvalde page, although not your clasic Uvalde dsign, there is one shown there that is similar.
Hope you do get a positive ID on it as I found one just like it last week. Check Michelles latest June update, about the fourth row down on the rock next to pink flowers.

The "new" frame case is fillin up fast !

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

Your chameleon point is reacting "normally".
Considering that flint is 8 on the hardness scale it seems to react like a porus sponge when damp and also
the color change can depend on sun bleaching. Yours seems to show a slight whitish pattern that dominates.

It wont hurt it to experiment, put it in water for a few hours [ then do a before and after pic ]

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

Geo When you have many hundreds of artifacts the first complete one will always stand out in your memory. I think all of us will always remember the first one. I guess that is for more than artifacts.Keep it going the train is rolling now

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

An 18" depth find is relativly young for an artifact.Maybe a few thousand years old, thus making it doubtful to be a nolan I would think.Great find regardless!

Re: WOOO-HOOOO

Very nice Perd, it may have been somebodys favorite lucky point since its been resharpened, probably was 4 inches long when new !

Re that "scraper", now that your both veteran diggers you can apply the general rule that states;

" If you have to look at it too long, its probably nothing "
