Famous Cowboy & Cowgirl Recipes
Enjoy favorite mouthwatering recipes rustled up by some of the world's most famous cowboys and cowgirls. ************* Slim Pickens: A real rootin, tootin cowboy who was a teenage rodeo cowboy who became a pro rodeo clown before turning into one of the greatest TV character actor of all time. Slim's Cowboy Beans "My dad loved these beans", said Slim 1 to 1 1/2 pounds small red beans 1 Hambone 1 or 2 pinches of celery seed Red Chile pepper 1 Onion, chopped Cloves from cooked ham Garlic Salt & pepper Pick over the beans, and rinse them well. Preheat Dutch oven, and add the mixture. Place the Dutch oven in the oven at 350 degrees and cook for 1 hour. Turn the roast and baste with marinade every 10 to 15 minutes. Sweet Parsley Dressing 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup white vinegar 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 green onion, thinly sliced 1 tablespoon shopped fresh parsley 1 teaspoon Worcestershire souce 1 teaspoon prepared mustard 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper Whisk together the sugar, vinegar, oil, onion, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and pepper, and then chill the mixture for about 20 minutes. Makes about 1 cup of dressing. ************* Cattle-drive cooks would call the trailhands to breakfast with such shouts as "Roll out! Roll out! While she's hot!" "Wake up, snakes, and bite a biscuit!" and "Grubpile!
