He introduced me to opera. La Boheme was the first. He played it on a phonograph in his cabin on the road behind the dining lodge in Wigwam. It was in the mid-sixties--I don't quite remember the year. The impression was lasting. He also gave me a copy of the Common Book of Prayer, trying to introduce this Baptist to a bit of graceful liturgy! Again, the impression was lasting. I'm still a Baptist, but I love opera and liturgy in worship!
