British CJs?

Currently I've got my fingers crossed that I'll be working in Scotland for a year, and there's a couple of UK dealers importing CJs, and selling them in LHD & RHD setups. I'm planning to buy one for use while I'm there, and shipping it back with me when I return. Of course I'll have to face the ADR hoops when I do. Maybe other Oz CJ fans could consider this source for machines - or maybe it would just add another complication to the process. I don't know what ADR-type mods they've made for their similar drive-on-the-left road situation, but if anyone's interested, there's a site:

www.bemw.co.uk/

with the huge bike resto market in the UK, there's probably a heap of NOS BMW/Ural/Dnepr/CJ parts and expertise available.

Just thought I'd muddy the waters a little.

Gregg

ps I've never actually seen one of these machines in the flesh. If there's anyone in the greater Brisbane area with a CJ that they'd be willing to let me see/sit/ride so I can get a better idea of this mad bike I seem to have fallen in love with on the net, I'd be very grateful!

Re: British CJs?

Hi Gregg,
You will not be able to bring it back to Australia unless it has paperwork which proves it is at least 15 years old. Otherwise you have to meet ADRs which a CJ cannot possibly meet. I researched it at great length before importing mine.
Ring me on Brisbane 07 3353 2843 to make a time to go for a ride. My CJ is QLD registered on full rego and is garaged at McDowall.
