Thanks. I decided not to go on a dig. We just didn't have time. I am planning now for digfest. I've never dug anywhere other than North Lousiana and I am anxious to try a different area. Looking forward to speaking to some knowledgeable people too.

Maybe just as well, temperatures were in the low 100,s . . . . not the best situation for checking out a new place that would involve a lot of walking time..
looking for some info. is there a list of states that allow artifact digging?
Bottom line answer...NO....matter of fact not all States host artifact shows. Maybe 5 yrs ago I spent a couple hours hunting for advertised public dig sites,,, best I found was a PENNSYLVANIA land company that for a LOT of $ was offering people a chance to walk ( NOT dig ) on their Utah property.
The ancients have been proven to have been over every square inch of N America that was not under Ice or water...you just have to intensify your search in your local area
Best example...Ex Texan GTwn doing very nicely in Oregon.
