Young Peoples’ Showcase




Young Furness talent from local schools and clubs, enjoying the old traditions in a new way. Creative music, song, dance, story telling and rhythms.




Friday July 13: 8pm Glaxo Social Club £5/£4




Lakeland Gathering




A traditional Lakeland Merry Neet with Old Friends Ceilidh Band, Greg Stephens and the Boat Band, Dadzone and special guests from the floor.




Saturday July 14: all day town centre free




Saturday in the Street (& pubs)




We take to the streets with a mass Morris procession followed by dance displays throughout the town centre; Craft fair, rope-making, hands-on crafts, don’t miss the gurning competition. New age electronic folk fusion concert from Altar Native.




In the pubs, there are music and song sessions, plus workshops and songwriters’ forum led by Pete Morton. There are excellent real ales; don’t forget to sample our specially brewed Festival Ale from the local Foxfield brewery. It usually sells out very quickly.




At the Honeypots Community Centre there is a Kids’ Storytelling Workshop, followed by a concert featuring the kids, Pam Sandiford and Les Barker.

Saturday Finale




Concert and Ceilidh featuring folk-rock band Striding Edge, Altar Native, all-female harmony group Bella Acapella, one of the leading performers on the folk scene today– singer-songwriter Pete Morton, and jaw-achingly funny monologues from Les Barker.




Sunday July 15: 11.30am town centre free




Survivors’ Session




Dance displays at the Market Square, followed by all-comers’ pub session.
