Re: Graham Simpson

This is very sad news.

Best Wishes, Colette

Re: Graham Simpson

I was sad to hear the news too. I met him 2 years to do an interview. This news will push me into transcribing and publishing the interview soon.

I met him a second time only 8 weeks ago and he was as charming and friendly as ever.

RIP Graham

J.O'B.

Re: Graham Simpson

So sorry to hear about Simpson's death...the first of their many bassists. I believe he is the first member of Roxy to pass away, though I may be wrong about that.

Re: Graham Simpson

I think one or two have gone(Allan Spenner comes to mind) but certainly Graham is the first of the originla line up - and I hope the last for a very long time.

Re: Graham Simpson

Mark Smith passed away as well, a couple of years or so ago. Mark just played live, don't think he did any recordings. Three, all bass players. Don't know if John Gustafson is still with us? All great players and contributed to the unique Roxy sound.
RIP

Re: Graham Simpson

I think Gustafson is still around. Jimmy Maelen, David Williams and Mick Green also no longer with us but at times were part of the Roxy family over the years.

I feel as Pete and Bill M have said above, Graham Simpson was one of the original musicians who gave us the debut ablbum Roxy Music, the Roxy Music that ******* up our ears in 1972 and set us on the path to where we are today, writing on this very forum.

Cheers, Colette

Re: Graham Simpson

I agree with Colette. He played a part in changing my life.
RIP Graham

Re: Graham Simpson

Sorry to hear this. Very sad news.

Re: Graham Simpson

A sad loss. A very influential player, even if many bassists who were influenced by him never actually realised it. RIP

Re: Graham Simpson

Terribly sad, A huge influence on my playing from that first album, I still listen to 2HB and wonder what was in his head at that time, It's unbelievable playing, A great talent and a great loss, RIP Graham Simpson.
