SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

OK, So we have a solution.
"The Owner's Forum" will be closed to the general public after May 25, 2009.
Every Owner with a request for the password will be sent a password back (to the requestor's e-mail only) that meets new password standards using letters, numbers and type signs (@#$%)
in a combination you will have to write down to remember. It is not as simple as "Summerplace" or "Hideout" which with new tecknology can be broken easily.
It will be one and only, the same password for all, so do not use it in any public correspondance at all.
If it is felt a change is needed it can be reassigned instantly very easily.
All requests from you for the password will be in your computer the same day we start, Monday May 25.(After Lock down)

I hope our Forum will survive as a better tool for honest inputs without having to think we are hanging our laundry out for all to see.

Some are worried that the width of the participation will diminish, let us see.

Without the official owners list we will have to
be pretty much on our own knowing who the owners are,
Be we do have a nice list of participants from previous years.

If there is anything you can help us with, feel free and mail your comments to me at james@casaybel.com.
Thanks to Bob Lade, our web master, for adding these final touches.

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

I am an owner of week 34, unit H184. I tried to sign up for the password, but it asked for my incoming and outgoing mail server information, and I have no idea what that is. This might be a hinderance to other owners attempting to get the password, or perhaps I am just really "low tech."

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

I am having the same problem. My email to you, Carl, will not go through.

Is there some other way to create a list serve?

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

I have emailed twice to Carl A. for the new password, but have not received an answer. Can someone tell me how we go about getting a password for the new "web site"? We are going to our timeshare week the first week in June so need to get this special/owner web base password soon. Thanks for your help. Noreen & Steve Hodges F-147 week 23

Carl, I also sent you an e-mail last week and have not yet recieved a response.

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

For those who have been expecting receipt of an email with your "password" for access to the Owner's Forum beginning 5/25, I believe the answer is in Carl Appelberg's post of 5/14:
"All requests from you for the password will be in your computer the same day we start, Monday May 25.(After Lock down)"

It certainly makes sense to me that this password will be broadcast emailed rather than individually mailed as they are received, which would be very time consuming for a volunteer supported website/Forum.

Come May 25, we will know whether my assumption is correct.

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

I was not able to send the reply directly through the link so I sent you the request for the password from my comcast acct. Hope you get it, as I want to continue to view the website.

Carl,
Is there any way Bob could set up the log-in procedure so that it could have a spot that says something like "remember this password on this computer"? It would make logging in much easier. Thanks.

Re: SECURE "OWNERS FORUM", (and only that page) starting May 25, 2009

My new (is i Vista) has a drop down for all pages requesting passwords.
When evr that happens I fill in the standard password in a dropdown pad. I have it for almost anything that I have passwords for, it is just there. I write my unique password and it opens up whatever is requeted.
If you use Quicken you know it has a password vault for everything, and you just use your own little memorized password like "Springtime".
All your credit cards and bank accounts have differetn password, put it is placed in a vault by "Quicken" where only you have access with your own private password. Pretty neat.
Will ask our web master what else can be done.
