Re: TripAdvisor reviews

It is healthy to open our eyes and look at what is going on around us. You have a right to be 2 "concerned owners".
Let our guests know we as timeshare owners own
"2 bedroom units" (sleeps 6), and not "1 bedroom room" (sleeps 2) as we are refered to on various web sites. The rates are by the week, not by person.
Everyboy should know we are:
F, G, H, I, J, and K Buildings, all condos facing the Gulf of Mexico and are owned by individual owners 52 to 53 weeks of the year (360-52/53)with approx. 3900 unit/week owner deeds. 74 units in 52 to 53 weeks.

The web is showing Casa Ybel as 1 resort with a mix of 1 or 2 bedroom units, which it is, and we agree on.

From the minute we checked in until we drove over the bridge back to reality - it was an awesome week! Great service - great smiles - great food - great drinks - great beach time - great shelling - great hammock time - great pool time - great romance - great views from the lanai - great sleep - great rooms. In this time of crazy economy - we so treated ourselves and have no regrets. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the elegant Thistle Lodge for dinner and Sunday brunch. We enjoyed Coconuts poolside for salads and sandwiches. Entertainment was just right. Walks on the beach at sunrise and sunset - doesn't get any better than this. Quality of food and drinks at both the Thistle Lodge and Coconuts were what they should be - fresh - well prepared - beautifully presented - and flavor everywhere. We met another couple on the beach and it was thier 23rd trip to Casa and we all decided it would be nice to see each other again next year. How fun is that? We have stayed here before and had a great time - this time was even better. Casa Ybel just keeps getting better! We will be back for more GREAT and we are sure it will be. A thanks to all at Casa Ybel for the great week we enjoyed. The palm trees and the grounds are beautiful. The staff makes the rest of the stay beautiful.

Nice wedding pictures, bad reception site

We stayed at and had our wedding ceremony & reception at Casa Ybel. The resort is beautiful, old Florida style which made for excellent pictures. However, please don't have your reception at the Thistle Lodge if you are worried about eating rubbery wedding chicken, dealing with poor service or an unprofessional wedding staff. We had a lot of problems at Casa Ybel such as planning miscommunications between their wedding director & catering departments, last minute organization snafu's on their part, bad food, and finally being charged extra amounts of money on our credit card that were not authorized for services we did not receive. But, we'll always have some beautiful pictures! After the wedding, we cannot get the wedding director to return our e-mails or phone calls. I guess once they have your money and you have left town, you don't get any more service.
Beautiful Room!

Our suite at Casa Ybel was amazing. Granite counter tops. Equipped with EVERYTHING possible. Gorgeous lanai. Sanibel itself was a little difficult for us to navigate since all the little things to do were a drive away. The beaches have so many shells and washed up algae that it wasn't as relaxing as some beaches. Also, we were looking more for a vacation where we could leave our room and take walks to shops and all. So after staying in Sanibel for awhile we changed plans and left for Ft. Myers. (see review on Pink Shell resort). But again, our suite at Casa Ybel itself was beautiful.

Is this fair when we pay them part of our management fees to run the front office?
The timeshare owners are forced to follow them and take a loss?
I suggest our IJK & FGH Boards look at this.
What about our 1 bed-room owners?
What do other owners think?

Dec 15, 2009 | Trip type: Family We come everyyear and our family can't wait. It is November and they are already asking when we are going back. The units all face the beach, which is a couple of steps away. Biking around the island is a favorite part of our stay as well. The tennis courts are in great shape, as is the pool. There is music by the pool on the weekends.

Thistle Lodge
Tarpon Bay
Tarpon Bay More photos Casa Ybel is a beautiful historic beach resort on the beatiful natural barrier island of Sanibel. We love to visit beach front resorts and this one rates high on our list. Casa Ybel is the original first beach front resort that was established on the island. First class resort managed by Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs and the Coral Group. Grounds and property are immaculately maintained. The staff was excellent and the responsiveness and professionalism of the Hilton resort manager was outstanding making our vacation experience first rate. Our 2 bedroom unit was well appointed and lovely. ALL units at this resort are 1 or 2 bedroom beachfront condos. They ALL face the beach! Beach location is a gorgeous natural shelling beach. The cuisine and dining experience at the on site Thistle Lodge restaurant was outstanding. This beachfront 5 star restaurant did not disappoint. This is s great family destination. Sanibel is a quiet, low commotion, natural habitat island destination. Shelling beach is first rate. Bicycle trails honeycomb the island providing wonderful experiences of the natural habitat and wildlife. 70% of Sanibel is a protected wildlife preserve. Try renting a boat from Jensen's Marina on neiboring Captiva Island and explore the local islands for a great natural adventure. If you love nature on the coast, you will LOVE Sanibel and Casa Ybel resort.

Aug 25, 2009 | Trip type: Couples 1person found this review helpfulwe stayed in a one bedroom on the floor where you can walk downstairs directly to the beach. sanibel/captiva is beautiful; the condo rooms are very nice and spacious; very close to the beach; the pool set up is very nice. we would stay there again and would recommend it.

Shelling on the beach
toes in the shells!! Casa Ybel is a beautiful, well manicured and exceptionally clean resort. I have traveled many places, and found Casa to be one of the best. It has everything you could ask for!! I traveled with a friend and her daughter, who is 13, as well as my daughter who is 10. We had a fabulous girls getaway, leaving our husbands at home! The resort was set up well, our condo was right near the pool and Gulf so we were very fortunate, but nothing was that far to walk, and the property was absolutely breathtaking. We strolled the beach and looked at other resorts, and Casa was by far the most luxuriant and the cleanest. Little things, the personal water hose for use before entering our condo, fully equipped kitchen and very friendly service pool side. Retta braided my daughters hair and gave us a wealth of information regarding the island and just in talking to her, I could tell she loved her job at Casa. All staff was happy to help and the pool was always immaculate. Gorgeous resort and I would reccommend it to anyone!!! I love Sanibel and all it has to offer, but staying at Casa Ybel topped it off! Thanks for our great stay.

Our Intimate Lawn Ceremony Our wedding at Casa Ybel Resort could not have been more perfect in every way. When we first began the search, I was a little nervous, with some mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, but once we saw the location and met the staff, we could not have imagine our wedding anywhere else!!

I worked with Jessica in the beginning to book the wedding, and she was very professional and accomidating with all of our requests. She was our first impression of the resort, and after meeting her we could not believe anyone would write anything negative about her or Jennifer! They were awesome, and never too busy to deal with us, or rude. Not sure where those people are coming from!

After we booked, we began working with Jennifer, and she is INCREDIBLE!! She was always there for any questions we had, gave creative and practical advice when needed, guided us whenever we needed guidance, connected us with our awesome vendors, and was just all around a great person!

Planning was a breeze, the all-inclusive packages made selecting everythings so easy, and the vendors they recommended did a fabulous job. They also keep a blog just for the weddings that shows REAL pictures of the weddings, so you can see what everything really looks like, and what other people did...a great source for inspiration!!

OUr wedding was on the lawn between the palm trees, overlooking the water, and was just magical. Our reception was in the Waterfront Dining Room, and was so beautiful-I could not have imagined it any better! The food was DELICIOUS-a far cry away from typical wedding food, 5 star all the way and worth every penny. The staff was friendly and treated us like royalty.

We really cannot say enough about how perfect our day was, from start to finish. The rooms at the resort are beautiful as well-all full sized condos with water views...what more could you ask for??

My advice to brides: don't be thrown off by any negative reviews you might see, because in my humble opinion, they could not be further from the truth, and there are quite a few positive reviews to back me up!!! (check out Project Wedding or Wedding Wire).

Casa Ybel Resort is the best decision we could have ever made for our WEdding on Sanibel Island, and we will have a life full of memories to cherish from our time there.

Beach at dusk
three birds We've taken many vacations, but this is one of the most memorable.
Casa Ybel resort itself is an awesome getaway! Going over the wooden bridge to the resort felt like coming home. The pond at the entrance has multitude of wildlife and rich colors. The chalet-type condos were clean and had everything you would need. The screened -in porch overlooking the ocean provided hours of relaxation in the early morning and late evening hours; many hours were spent listening to the call of the "uh-oh" birds while sipping coffee (or wine if it's after 11AM, that's not too early when you're on vacation, right?).
The ocean was full of sand dollars, starfish, sea bass, "smelts", dolphins, pelicans, etc. Trying to touch the dolphins, which showed up like clockwork twice a day at 9:30am and 3-4PM, kept us in shape. Tossing the frisbee in the ocean was the best family past-time.
Collecting shells on the beach and listening to the underwater chirping of the dolphins kept the kids busy.
Sanibel Island was the perfect getaway from everything commercialized! If you go, be sure to eat at The Timbers on Tarpon Road and treat yourself to some NASA jewelry at Shiny Objects. And after you return home with all those seashells, get a glue-gun and some magnets for the kids and watch their imaginations fly!
Before you cross the bridge to the island, load up at the Publix on McGregor Road; that way you won't have to leave the island at all. Be sure to load up on SPF 70.
We just returned and are already saving up for next year, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else but Casa Ybel Resort!

Jun 18, 2009 | Trip type: Couples 1person found this review helpfulWe loved this resort!! The staff is amazing and will do anything to make your stay special and the best. They helped us everytime we needed something and made we had everything that we wanted. I didnt want to leave the resort. I give this place a 5 stars and 100% aproval for a place to stay and 100% to the staff for all their hard work and great job and for being so friendly!!!! Thank you Casa Ybel!

Mar 13, 2009 | Trip type: Couples We came back for more and we got more smiles, we got more sun, we got more food, we got more beach, we got more tan, we got more shells, we go more service, we got more shells,. we got more hammock time, we got more new friends, and we got more fun!! Casa Ybel just keeps getting better. It was not our first visit and sometimes a return visit can be dissappointing - not this one - not this time. It was better than the first and the first visit was incredible. The rooms are very clean, the beds are very comfortable and the views are so perfect. Quiet, comfortable, beautiful, romantic and yet energizing is what this trip was and it was a succcess.

We enjoyed dinner at the Thistle Lodge. A high school freind and her husband joined us for dinner-it was thier first time at Casa Ybel. They actually took pictures of the food as it was served. That is how impressed they were with the presentation. We were also just as impressed with our choices for dinner - quality and flavor was outstanding. Dinner will be remembered by all of us and what a wonderful memory we all have.

On Sunday we enjoyed the brunch at the Thistle Lodge. Again, presentation was beautiful. While we enjoyed the complimentary mamosa we enjoyed the live piano music - a nice touch to start the day. The food was everything it could have been. Prepared and presented as only a professional staff can.

We ate at Coconuts - poolside - several times during our stay. The sandwiches were great (grouper was our favorite) and the salads were always fresh. The drinks were equally satisfying. On Sunday afternoon there were grilled hamburgers, brats, etc poolside - and live music. Very easy to listen to and enjoy. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We met a couple from Germany during our stay. It was thier 23rd trip to Casa Ybel. We look forward to seeing them again next year. What a way to meet new friends - on a beach listening to the waves and soaking in as much sun as possible.

We watched two weddings during our stay. We were not part of the weddings. One took place on the grassy area between two palm trees with a person playing a violin and the guests sitting on white folding chairs - what an incredible setting. The second wedding was actually on the beach under a arch of white netting. How romantic is that!! Wish we would have thought of that years ago. Maybe a renewel of our vows would be nice - on the beach of course!!

The staff was always friendly and helpful. Eeryone had a smile on their face. It is obvious they enjoy thier positions at Casa Ybel.

How much better does it get than when you awake in the morning - take a few steps to the beach and have a very early morning walk when the sun is coming up?

How much better does it get than when you take a few steps to the beach - sit on the two chairs - read a book - take a nap - listen to your I Pod - under the umbrella - that has been setup just for you earlier in the day?

How much better does it get than when you take a few steps to the beach - walk on the beach after the sunset and enjoy the quiet of the evening?

While we were on the beach - enjoying the sun - watching dolphins playing in the water - we realized we really were in paradise.

A huge thank you to the entire staff at Casa Ybel for making our trip everything it was - absolutely awesome!
