Best they offer from Minneapolis in April is $671.00 with two stops. Only about twice as much as Delta which is non stop.

Midwest just opened in Milwaukee also, and reaches the mid-west population with shorter driving distances than Chicago.
Ft Wayne, Indiana has direct flights to St.Petersburg with great discounts on Allegiant. you can hire car there and keep on Sanibel for later return.
Punta Gorda, 30 some miles North of Ft Myers has also oppened up.
Indianapolis has good rates on nonstop to Ft Myers by Airtran, as low as $84, which I have used. 2 hours flight. Reserve ahead! Try SW to Ft Myers or Tampa also.
Tampa has great rates by all airlines due to traffic slowdown to Tampa.
Rent car drive 138 miles to Sanibel, keep car, use, then return to Tampa.
