Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Carl. I do not understand your posting. Are you drunk?

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Some years ago a St. Petersburg resort was attempting a new promotion guaranteeing beautiful daily sunsets at their resort and gave the guarantee I referred to.
They got into so much trouble promising beautiful sunsets that guests would sue them for not being able to se one for several days.
Their defense was: We can't help the weather was bad, we admit, but you can't deny the sun did rise and set as usual, and the case died away.

Now read it again, does that make sense?

Carl

PS We also need some humour here!

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Does it count if you can't actually see the sunrise and/or sunset due to cloud, bad weather, etc?

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

With all due respect to Paul, the Brits just have a different sense of humor Carl. In fact, I personally have a sense of humor that my wife doesn't appreciate, but that's life. Anyway, a bit of levity never hurts.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Regarding Sunsets and Sunrises over the Gulf, the joke is on all of you and Carl you took the bait especially hard.....

Ronald Bass is also known as "Sunshine" Bass. Sunshine was QB for South Carolina some years ago and made famous as the starting Q.B. for T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA in the movie "Remember the Titans", which starred Denzel Washington.

Winter Solstice - what a farce? You will never see a true Florida sunset from Casa Ybel, as the island faces due south.

Yes Bob, levity never hurts. Keep up the good boys.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Ah “Ronald”, you should brush up on your Astrophysics. As we move from the summer to the winter solstice, the sun gradually rises and sets more southerly. I can guarantee that near the winter solstice, we see both rises over the gulf. At least that’s been the case for the last 30 years. I’ll check it out again this December.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

George,

I need to meet you there – not for the presumed sunset, but for the crazy concoction in your glass.

I have lived here all my life.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

If you ask me, there's no big deal about sunrise and sunset. In Florida, I try to avoid them both, because that is when the bugs come out!

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Sounds good. On the beach outside H Building, on the solstice (21st), at sunset (approx. 5:40 PM). I'll have a glass for you (I only start drinking after sunset).

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

My Friend,

There a few places on earth to better relax and prepare for the celebration of the birth of my Son. Ronnie is correct, you will not be able to witness the sun sinking into the Gulf on the solstice or otherwise. I know because I created everything, including the magnificent boulders.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

Thank you, Lord, for straightening me out. All these years you have been tricking me.

I still look forward to meeting Ronnie on the 21st and discussing cosmology. My request to you, though, is to give us a green flash after the sun sets. I've only seen it once.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

If you want to see the Green Flash you have to drive up to Captiva.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

hi Ronald,
Are you the guy at McDonals?
South is the wrong way to look for a sunset, but if you are looking south, turn your head 90 degrees to your right and you will be looking West, where the sun normally sets at 6 o'clock around equinox time.
You might get some sand in the picture from the beach.
Remember Sanibel is shaped as a quarter moon laying on it's back. And Casa Ybel beach is close to the lowest point facing South.
And thanks, God, that also helped. When you sent your son to earth on a suicide mission some 2010 years ago
I know you did it when the days were the shortest and prooved after birth that the days got longer and everybody was pleased. That to me prooved your son arrived to make things better! incluing more daylight! My old for-fathers, the Vikings, discovered the same thing and Odin and Thor celebrated at Valhalla the same time of year?

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

I did that a number of years ago, but all I found was Timmy's Nook.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

It is bad enough that people write on this forum using false names. However, for somebody to use G-d's name in vain is absolutely disgraceful. You should hang your head in shame.

I must insist that the webmaster removes that contribution immediately, and not allow the use of this or a similar name again.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

How was God's name used in vain? I thought is was actually funny.

Re: SUNRISE_SUNSET

It was used in vain by the very nature of using that name to submit an entry, and then addressing the forum as if G-d himself was speaking in a light hearted way. Effectively ridiculing Him.

By you agreeing with that entry,Sam, you are just as bad.

We can have very fruitful discussions on this site, withous being blasphemous or resorting to being malicious.
