pool closure

Hi,
Just noticed a thread that indicates that the pool will be closed for repairs late summer. We are weeks 36/37 and wonder if the repairs will be done before Labor Day or after? Have not received the newsletter. Last year we had the deck/paver replacements during our weeks (which are the traditional maintenance weeks). Should I call the resort or does anyone have a definite time table? Our grandchildren want to visit-- so pool access will be a BIG determination whether they fly in or not. Thanks. Mary Ann

Re: pool closure

I do not have the answer about the pool for this year. I am calling today to find out. I am looking at potentially purchasing a unit during week 36. However if history says this week is subject to "maintenance activities", that cause lack of amenities, that would be good to know.

Did the paver replacement last year close the pool?

Update: MaryAnn just spoke to Chris Kane from Casa Ybel pool work for 2011 has been cancelled.

Re: pool closure

Thanks so much for calling and finding out about the possible pool closure! You saved me a call to Casa Ybel.
We have owned only for 2 years: week 36 in bldg J and week 37 in bldg I. One of the I J K bldgs is empty for maintenance during each of those weeks. I believe that last year bldg J was being 'maintained' in week 37 and K in week 36....leaving I for week 35 or 38. Last year the pool area paver work was a bit noisy but the pool was NOT closed. The year before there was lanai/patio tile replacement work in some of the bldgs....not sure which. This patio/lanai work did not impact us but the noise was uncomfortable for some I believe. We enjoy weeks 36 and 37 because the resort and beach are not crowded...kind of a trade off with the maintenance work....even though we did not realize these weeks were maintenance weeks when we bought. Sometimes crowds of people or big weekend parties/groups are more 'noisy' than the maintenance.
Thanks again, Mary Ann

Re: pool closure

I called the front office today and was told there were no plans for closing the pools in the fall of 2011.
Thanks Casa Ybel
