I was shocked to know we are allowed 2 weeks to talk about new blood on our board.
Our 7 member board goes down by 2 terminations (Sweeney & Demos) as I see it.

5 Members are staying on (Elikan, Gala, Perkins, Pommerenke, Walter) for reelection for another term or two. (WE NEED Perkins, he has shown up repeatedly and calmed many waters many times, ALSO Pommerenke presented a fruitful year our president (previous term ) and Gala (not presently a contractor) but a person understanding time share from the beginning, he served many years on the Board and deserves recognition.

I was pleased to see 3 long time owners willing to help improve matters. We will need them, (Herlinger, Orsak, VanDrake)
VanDrake (Retired Medical Specialist) plans to spend retirement on Sanibel, going for the best in steady improvements for owners, and has now time in his retirement to advance his goals.
Orsak also deserves considerations having tested a previous election of entrees to help our board maintain excellence in a quality resort.

I do not wish to use this opportunity to push any one in particular nor pull anyone down, but I only spoke of persons I have met and would consider as serious contenders,
I suggest any owner to use this same chance to support any candidate so we can reach to form a board we might learn from and respect for holding up our precious treasures at Casa Ybel.

can you tell me how board members are compesated. if they get paid,how often they meet,if they are provided a place to stay, food, travel expenses, and anything else.

Board members are not paid for their services on the Booard of Directors. They are provided housing for 2 or 3 nights during the Board meetings and are reimbursed for transportation expenses and meals during that time, IF vouchers are submited with receipts for those expenses.

If the Board members own the week that the meeting occur, they are not reimbursed for their maintenance fees and taxes.

Your Board of Directors is composed for volunteers who are not compensated for their time and expertise and they do a good job representing their fellow owners. They are NOT getting a free vacation on our lovely Sanibel Island.

Speaking for my wife and myself only, we having been coming to Casa Ybel since 1980 and I am completing my 5th year as a director. I had never received free housing until last October and I have asked for reimbursement for expenses for about half of the board meetings since I was elected.

how many times a year do you meet

We meet in April or May for the annual meeting and again in October for the budget meeting. The meetings are on Monday or Tuesday. The IJK Association meets in the same time period also on Monday or Tuesday, but not the same day, so we alternate days.

I have always taken the view that the board members serve as a "Labour of Love", and that is why we appreciate the time and dedication that they put in. While some owners may not always agree with all their decisions, those decisions and deliberations are made with the best of intentions for the benefit of the owners.
