You are right, of course, Hugh.

I am not saying that I don't want to go to Florida - far from it. I love Florida (at the right time of year). All I am saying is that at the time of writing, the climate in my garden in London was perfect - 75% F, low humidity, slight breeze, comfortable surroundings, and (significantly) no biting insects. Whereas Florida at this time of year is extremely hot, very humid, often raining, and stacks of no-seeums and other biting insects (particularly in Sanibel).

The other consideration is that years ago I was governed by school holidays and had to go away in those times. Now that my children have grown up, I try to avoid school holiday times, and vacation in the winter instead.

Mind you, in the winter, Florida wins hands down.
