We want this forum to be a place where everyone can feel comfortable and be welcome. We want this to be a place for people to ask questions and get answers regarding emu meat and emu by-products like the oil.

We also run a Yahoo group for emu farmers to discuss husbandry issues.  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/emufarm

We like to think that everyone knows the proper way to act on a public message board, but just in case we will give a few pointers for our posters to go by.

1. Absolutely no personal attacks will be tolerated.

2. The world would be a very dull place if everyone agreed with everyone else, but when you disagree here, please give your differing opinion with respect. Rude or abusive posts will be deleted.

3. If you feel that you can not express your differing opinion without being rude or hurtful things, then please save me some time by using the SOB rule: Scroll on By. 4. Please invite your friends to join us and if possible, provide a link to our site on your personal web page. (We would really appreciate it!)

broken shells

where can I buy large broken emu shells to practice learning how to carve on. I do not want to ruin my good shells learning how to use the bits on my dremel and learning how far down to go till you reavh the teal on the eggs. I would appreciate any sources of shells you can provide me with.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: broken shells

Jeff,

You don't tell what state you are in, but perhaps this will help. Go to the American Emu Association website at http://www.aea-emu.org and look in the classifieds section for clean blown eggs. For shells, check under the state listings and contact your local state association to see if there is a farmer near you that is hatching and has extra broken shells.

Another thing you might want to consider is taking Ron Cheruka's emu egg carving class in Oklahoma City, OK this July. He will be giving half day courses in egg carving during the AEA convention again this year(class dates are 15th & 16th I think). Contact the AEA office for more info and watch the next issue of the zine for a press release.

Myra,

Thanks for the reply. We sure don't have any farms here as I live in New York City but will check that website. Jeff
