Dustin Pedroia

Okay, I know I called this one back on September 5th, but ugh.

From now on, I am calling him Marty Marion.

Is it just me or did the most deserving MVP finish 4th?

I agree with Yankeefan

Re: Dustin Pedroia

Raul Ibanez got a vote. Is his mother a member of the BBWAA?

Re: Dustin Pedroia

Jason Bartlett got a 5th place vote to add to his laudits as 2008 Rays team MVP.

Wow.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

Talk about cherry picking...

Re: Dustin Pedroia

"He is the most unlikely man to win this award in the history of major league baseball."

Pedroia was a second-round draft choice...

Re: Dustin Pedroia

and if you thought that was an uncomfortable read, this will drive you nuts!

Re: Dustin Pedroia

Huh. Boswell went insane. Good for him.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

That article did drive me nuts - until my head actually exploded.

Ah, the life I could have led had my head not exploded just now.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

If I still had a head, I would express incredulity at the fact that Boswell just extolled the virtues of the "if a statistic tells me something that my common sense disagrees with it, it must be the statistic that is wrong" mindset.

Man, I would have railed about that forever if I still had my head.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

Are you guys sure that wasn't satire. When he said "
don't analyze beyond that" I literally stopped reading and scratched my head.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

It really seems like it could have been, doesn't it?

I like quoting Howard's .320 average with runners in scoring position. Pujols hit .339, so I'm guessing the difference is the runners in the scoring position, not the guy doing the batting.

And let's not go giving him a free pass on K-Rod. Holy Cannoli - he called K-Rod's performance dominant.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

I think if you finish the article, Tony, you will agree that it isn't satire.

Re: Dustin Pedroia

I read the whole thing. I'm not saying it was, but I couldn't get over the whole "no need to further analyze" comment.
