mike laughton

I am interested in any Mike Laughton info or memoribillia. I would also like to read "The Overnight Success of Mike Laughton" found in Hockey Digest (even if the magazine is not available for sale...I would love to get my hands on a photo-copy of the story.

If anyone can help, please e-mail me.

Thanks,
Joey

Re: In Search of Mike Laughton

Joey, thanks for writing in. We were a little befuddled as to why you chose us to ask about an article on Mike Laughton -- we have to admit, we actually can't even remember him -- until we realised we'd quoted a passage from Dave Bidini's outstanding "Tropic of Hockey" a couple of years ago that contained an oblique reference to Laughton [ News, February-March 2001: http://members.aol.com/SportInfRe/IXnews09.htm ]. Betcha found our site on Google, dincha! In fact, we kinda figured Bidini was just extemporizing there, making up titles that only sounded like real titles. "Larry Carriere - Big Hitter on the Buffalo Blue Line." "Jerry Butler Says These Leafs Are For Real." Like that. But we in fact asked on your behalf, and the very busy Mr Bidini tells us the Mike Laughton piece was very real indeed, and appeared in an ancient issue of Hockey Pictorial which he may still have laying around somewhere. So -- real, not imaginary, and Hockey Pictorial, not Hockey Digest. Hope that helps.

Re: Re: In Search of Mike Laughton

Joey, it's only been most of a year, so we're not sure you haven't already found what you were looking
for, but here's a reference to somebody who claims to know Mike Laughton personally:

Perhaps you can contact the fella through that site's webmaster [ sealshockey@aol.com ].
