Garbage on Surfer's Beach

I am so tired of seeing garbage everywhere on our local beaches! I am so glad that the city finally put some garbage cans on the road by Surfer's Beach. It is still a mess however....even though there are obvious cans there. What is up with people? Don't they have any decency to throw their picnic trash away???? A few days ago I went and cleaned up the main entrance area to the beach while my family was playing in the water. Almost everything I picked up was a plastic plate, plastic fork or spooon, foil, plastic cups, plastic water bottles, and plastic bags! I pick up at least two garbage bags full of stuff for that small area. It was easy to find garbage bags to put the trash in because there were plastic grocery bags scattered everywhere. At least it made me feel good to get the plastic away from the ocean. Anyone interested in doing a regular beach cleanup day with our kids? Especially after a weekend?
