Re: Is anybody still there?

After basic training at Devizes oct 1950, was posted to Ranikhet camp tilehurst. The adjutant then was capt. salmon, the c.o I can't remember, but was replaced later by col. Bloxham. I certainly rember sgt paddy meaney, the scruffiest sgt in the British army, but lovely with it. I finally left the camp on demob 14 August 1952, my time was spent skiving in Pt2 Order section. Happy days.

I have just 'cruised'through the site for the fist time and found that no one was making any enquries about the period that covered my own national service with the corps.
I was inducted into army life in December 1949 at Devises (intake 49/23). After passing through the mincer of basic training I was posted to Ranikhet camp at Tilehurst,Reading where I spent a very easy time in the ration allowance section with a civilian section head. looking back it was a dream posting and remembering the carnage that was going on in Korea and Malaya I was lucky. Anybody out there who remembers Col Salmon Co.or Sgt Paddy Meany or Sgt Coombs?
