I am curious why the writers on this site are so opposed to the idea of evolution. Even the Catholic church, which is always slow to change, has made it clear that it sees evolution as a good explanation of how we got here. According to John Paul II: "some new findings lead us toward the recognition of evolution as more than an hypothesis." (http://www.ewtn.com/library/PAPALDOC/JP961022.HTM)
If the leader of one of the largest bodies of Christ's followers is making steps towards endorsing evolution as more than just hypothesis, why do smaller, fringe groups of Christians not look at his reasons for doing so?
