Please read this as very important, as an imposter as been misquarding as Marti, which totally wrong and approaching vulnerable ppl, it is totally disgusting…… Misquarding as someone else is a criminal offense and causing distress and harassment is a crime especially if they make direct contact via email too, and telling pack of lies or trolling on social media pretending it is some one else is totally sick, the user will get tracked down by location and isp… I strongly feel not to be fooled by anyone …….Because they will get caught…..I am totally against liars imposters the lot…… It is a wrong treat other human beings like this…..

Marti pre warned fans last year June 2020……

Woman duped by Marti Pellow imposter ‘conned out of £69k’ by catfish who promised luxury new home…..

The woman was reeled in by the scammer in May last year after she liked one of Marti Pellow's music videos on Instagram.….

A woman was duped into paying £69k to a conman who posed as Scots singer Marti Pellow.…….

The devastated mum, who we have agreed to only name as Claire, was tricked into handing over regular instalments worth thousands after the fraudster contacted her online and convinced her he was the Wet Wet Wet star.……

Claire thought she was putting money towards a £940,000 house in Windsor after the scammer promised they would move in together, and claimed he had received cash from 'his godmother' to secure a deposit.………

She was first contacted by the man in May 2020 after 'liking' one of Marti Pellow’s music videos on Instagram.……

She received flirtatious messages from individual posing as Marti, including nude photos, before the pair struck up an online romance.,,…..

The profile even sent pictures and videos appearing to show the singer at home - but Claire now acknowledges these were doctored.……

In June last year, Marti Pellow himself warned fans about scammers pretending to be him on social media and urged fans to ignore direct messages from anyone on any forum claiming to be him..,,,,

Claire turned over a lump of cash to the trickster over the course of a year - but the penny dropped two months ago when the fraudster demanded £35,000 to 'pay off a contract for a manager'.…….

When she called him a crook who only cared about money, the messages turned threatening and nasty.……

46-year-old Claire, who lives in England, told the Record: “At the time I really believed I would be moving in with this person and I now feel like I was sucked into this.……

“This was all a big scam. It’s a learning curve and an eye opener.…….

"These people draw people in and pull on your heartstrings, send you photos that appear real, that’s what people need to look out for.,……

"It just goes to show the lengths which people will go to to get money. Shame on them. I do not know how they sleep at night.”.,……

Claire, who is a carer, said she was reeled in by the man's compliments and the con artist went to great lengths to convince her he was the real Marti Pellow.,,……

In March this year, he even sent flowers and a card to her home with a personal message signed from ‘Marti Pellow.’…….

The person behind the profile also sent Claire pictures of a house he claimed to have bought in Windsor - where the singer himself lives - to lure her into making multiple transfers totalling around £30,000 to bank accounts under false names between January and August this year.,…..

Claire said she had the money available to pay towards the house from proceeds of a house sale in London through a recent divorce.…..

She said the fraudster convinced her to send £15,000 for a car because they 'could not be seen driving round in a taxi', another £1,000 for an engagement ring he claimed to have bought for her and numerous other payments for gifts on iTunes and Amazon.……

In messages given to the Record, the man is shown to then have sent messages threatening to harm Claire, her loved ones and himself, after she refused to transfer any more cash.……

Subsequent messages from the profile included pleas for Claire not to tell anyone about their conversations.…….

In one Google hangout message exchange, Claire told the con man he planned the scam well and that all he cared about was money and no one else.…..

The message in response from the fraudster reads: “I do.,,……

“It’s only when I’m being treated bad that’s when I feel like ending my life.,,,,,,.

“I know you want me to end my life so you can move on with your new man, but trust me if I’m dying you Nd your son will die with me.”………

Claire responds to this by saying: “Leave my son out of this.”,,……

Another message from the person behind the profile said: “I will kill that p****, you Nd your son then end my life or go to jail.”………

Claire replied: “Do you realise how bad this is with what you’re saying to me? You won’t f****** touch my son.”………

The scammer responds: “Then let me be with you."…….

Claire said: “It started to turn nasty when I said to him 'I’m not giving you my money' - that’s why he started to turn. All of a sudden it was an eye opener and I realised he was not the real Marti Pellow.…….


“He started to say that he was self harming. At one point he told me he was dying with a lung infection and needed money to pay for an operation.,,……

“I’ve lost £69,000 in total because of this. It was a lot of money I had been transferring but it was split into different amounts over time.”…….

Claire says she has not reported her experience to police but has been looking into contacting groups of investigators who might be able to track down the person responsible.………

In June last year, Marti Pellow issued a statement which said: “If you receive any direct messages from anyone on any social network or forum claiming to be 'Marti Pellow', please ignore this……

"I do not send out any direct messages on social media. Anything I want to share with fans will always be done through a post on my official channels or on my website - martipellowofficial.co.uk.”

He also urged his fans to report those people responsible.…..
