Looking for places to hunt in the Wimberley/Dripping Springs area

Man,I am so jealous when I see all those new finds. I have found two arrowheads in 6 months here in Wimberley. Don't get me wrong they were my first two ever and I am very proud of them but I wished I knew of some other places near here to hunt. Anybody know of any? I usually just surface creek hunt but would like to learn how and where to dig and do it properly. Any suggestions for a newbie would be appreciated. Thanks, David

Sounds like you have arrowhead fever and there is no cure! Once you get it, you are hooked for life!

I am not familar with dig sites in the Wimberly area, but I do know that the Indians were there! Whatever you do, don't step off the creek areas unto private property...it could prove to be dangerous! Good luck on your quest for digging! I know of some pay sites, if you are interest email me for details!

Try knapping. Mr. Jones lives at Winberley. Give him a call & go by to see what knapping is all about.

Re: Looking for places to hunt in the Wimberley/Dripping Springs area

I used to live in Wimberley. There's a big group of diggers in Wimberley along with tons of places to hunt and dig. Try to ask around at some of the local places, but most of the locals keep quiet. The places I used to go to have since been shutdown or developed. We used to have pretty good luck hunting new subdivisions before they are too developed. Let me see if I can find anything out from some of my old gang and I'll let you know. It might be a while, but I'll try.

Re: Looking for places to hunt in the Wimberley/Dripping Springs area

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Yes, I do have the fever. Just went out after all the rains to scrounge the creeks but to no avail. I have found some awesome fossils that washed out though. A neighbor of mine just recently showed me a spearhead she dug up in her yard while planting a bush. It as a great looking piece black in color and about 6 inches long and very sharp. Gave me a new found motivation. I will email some of you about the info. Thanks again. David
