central american(aztec or mayan?)

I picked these up many years back, don't think i've ever shared them with the board. They come from central america, from the documentaries i've seen, these were used to carve out the limestome temples.

Re: central american(aztec or mayan?)

I have seen similar tools from the mountain areas of Veracruz, along with some clay figurine dolls. I had a spanish friend translate an indian language to find out they were even older than aztec or mayan. They turned out to be Olmec (pre-dating the mayans by about 1,000 years).

hard to imagine

How much time and effort, it took to carve and polish these hard stones?
