I seriously doubt it was used as a pendant, as it would have been heavy and cumbersome to wear around. The piece does not appear to be honed or abraided. It is possible however, that it could have been used in some ornament fashion. I would think it's most practical application would have been as a weight. It might have made a good fishing weight. The hole in it would have been of some potential use to the indians.
