Re: The weather was COLDand WET!! but it was worth it.....Does anyone know this birdie point type?
Lots of bird point types in the first photo! The second photo is out of focus, but sure appears to be a Val Verde point, of which was not made just as an arrow point (there are much larger examples). It is middle to late archaic in age. Did you find All of this in only one day? If you did, then you have a surface hunters paradise down there! Good Hunting!

Most not all birdies I find around caliche and stoney hills, A friend of mine many years ago told me always look on the south east sides of hills. Have had a lot of succcess with that advise. I was never really interested in the large heavy tools until recently. I have a piece of steel roughly 12"x 18" rusted, but I picked it up because it has tiny rocks imbedded in it with sort of like melted tiny holes. I 'll post a Picture of it. And Yes, we have a flint paradise here, there are'nt many collectors around here.

Could have been that it was less windy for hunting birds on the southeast sides of hills. I've noticed that in fall and winter months anyway. I am about a 2hr drive North of Eagle Pass. I occasionally go into Mexico hunting caves and arrowheads. How about you, ever hunted across the border? I have found alot of good sites over there, and most of the Mexicans I've talked to don't look for them like we do. I don't much like crossing at Laredo anymore, and usually cross at Acuna or Piedras Negras. Have you found any middens yet on your ranch?

I used to go hunting in Mexico alot, not anymore. But yes, you can find them like bluebonnets if you can get to some ranches along the river. I'll post some Mexican finds. What I dont understand is why do some of the Mexican points look similar to north points? I've read some books on arrowheads and they say that the materials used is a telltale sign of what part of the country they come from. Anyways, the Mexican pieces are just as wonderful as Ours!! In my first picture, there are some points from the South, I'll repost them. Happy hunting guys.
