Police today took into custody some 600 people including women and children when an estimated 400
vehicles parked on the right of way of I-35 south
just north of Buda. Some parked 3 abreast right
onto the main lanes.
Most were armed with picks, shovels and gardening tools. They seem to be concentrating on the city park land adjacent to the PEPPERRIDGE FARM BAKERY COMPLEX.
Chief Brodie issued a statement that the terrain looked like "no mans land" at Verdun.
The strange behavior seems to stem from an article
in a Texas online forum, to the effect that there were
"artifacts" to be found in that area.
The FBI has sent investigators to trackdown the
alledged hoax perpatrators since it interfered with
federal interstate commerce.
The Buda city comptroller, Martin Bloomberg stated
they will now look into creating a landfill over
the devastated site.
Some great finds were posted on TXCH forum and said to come from the "Pepperridge farm site." It had a few people scrambling for digging tools! Good plot but should have been on April 1st.
Glad to hear they got off so lightly, ex mayor
Larry Vaughn was heard to say that he thought the perpetrators should be " strung up by their Buster Browns !"
Pat, the name is probably just a coincidence.
The police probably had the whole flap cleaned up
at the time you went by.
This should be a good warning to future poster of finds to be carefully how they identify their site.
Imagine the havock to be wrought if it was reported
finding "artifacts" at a north San Antonio MCdONALDS
or under the TOLL BOOTH of Hwy 45, Houston !
This was absolutely great. The dang thing even had me fooled. My digging buddy and new grandpa got into cahoots with another knucklehead and pulled this one over on a bunch of people.
