Jon See if you can find someone from S.H.O.T. they hunt all over the Dallas FortWorth area If you can get a hold of a man named L B Smith.

Re: Places to hunt in Dallas / Plano area

Thanks much. What does S.H.O.T. stand for?

Jon, your in an excellent part of the world to combine FLINT N FOSSILS.

DALLAS FOSSIL CLUB are specialists at shark and Ray teeth finding / collecting.

This topic and general area has come up in the recent past and I keep encouraging the BRAZOS tributaries.
It's rich with interesting materials....certainly moreso further south as it's all heading for the Gulf
[ of Mex ! ]

Friday, I was on 281 heading for Min Wells. When it crossed the Brazos, I slammed on the anchors to check it out.

Stayed pretty much on the bridge / road easment for just 9 minutes [ I was in a hurry ] Found a 6 year old deer bone, some flint cobbles, gorgeous "stones"
and a fragment of fossilised armadillo shell.

The main thing is it was the perfect type of gravel bar to hold "anything" [ NO SILT or MUD ].

Gravel bars were visible in both directions from the bridge.
