Carrizo Points

Am new to this site but not new to surface hunting. One thing since I have been viewing the pictures and discussions on this site is I haven't seen any Carrizo points or mention of them. I'm located between S.A. and Laredo and nearly everyone in this area has at least one good Carrizo. Have many of them been found north of the I10 corridor?

Re: Carrizo Points

Why hello there and Welcome!

I had to goto the book on that one.. IF that tells you anything about my collection from Austin anyway! heh

I think I remember something like that coming out of Randy's in Comfort, TX .. I think anyway..

I have been a diggin for 7 years in Austin and havent' scratched across one yet! But I will keep a look out though! Cool little buggers!

Michelle

Re: Carrizo Points

Pretty much heart shaped, guess that's why that's the prime find over Frio's,Montells, etc. I've only found two good ones in the past 45 years. Other surface scratchers have found more then I have. But they're further southwest.

Re: Carrizo Points

Prime find over Frio's and Montell's? There is a G10+ Montell in the Overstreet book for $2000-$3500 and a G10 Carrizo for $150-$250. I know which one I would rather find.

Re: Carrizo Points

True, but I've got 20-30 G6-G8 Frio's and a couple of G10's and about half that on Montells. Carrizos are somewhat more elusive.

Re: Carrizo Points

Yeah, they must be because I haven't seen many posted here. Do you know how to post your pictures on here?

Re: Carrizo Points

I've seen the post on it but I'll have to get better camera angles. I get to much camera flash back off the glass on the frames. Once I do I'll go ahead and post them. Also post the perdiz point I found with a token notch. Don't know how rare that is but I met with Greg Perino back in the late 70's and he authenticated my suspicions.

Re: Carrizo Points

found one in the round rock area about 20 years ago

Re: Carrizo Points

I have a couple from Long's Camp on the Llano. Saw a couple more found there back in the early 90s.

Re: Carrizo Points

Add me to the occasional Finders. I have two finds over a seven year span from different sites in Williamson county

Re: Carrizo Points

Couldn't figure out how to get the pic's to photobucket, so I e-mailed Michelle with some pic's. Hopefully she can figure how to post them. Sorry if they're not great but photography is not one of my best skills, along with figuring out how to work this computer. Think they call it computer dyslexia.

Thanks!! Glad to help !

Re: Carrizo Points

Thanks Michelle, the Meserve in the last pic. isn't tipless, it's kinda hidden under the backing. Told you I wasn't a good photo-grapher. All these are surface finds from Northern Mexico to Montana. Most are from S.Tex. brush country.

Re: Carrizo Points

Only Carizzo I ever found. Found in Mills County, 108 miles Northwest of Austin.
