hey you guys and gals, my husband wanted me to see if anyone could tell me who it was that had their ceremonial blade taken from him and he then took them to court...my husband has one and just wanted to talk to him about it.
Is there a way to insure an artifact before it is has a certificate of authenticated? We have a few we would like to have authenicated, but are scared to send them in the mail.
Thanks
There's a link for it on the left side of the main page under "Return of ceremonial knife" or you can just click on the following:

Also you can use both insurance and tracking through the US postal service on your package.
WELL IT DOES NOT COST MUCH BUT A CEREMONIAL KNIFE WOULD FETCH A HEFTY BOUNTY CONTACT THE POST OFFICE AND ASK HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR ??? HOW MANY DOLLARS OF COVERAGE !!
PLEASE PUT IN A BOX WRAP IN SOFT PAPER THEN WRAP IN BUBBLE WRAP AND MAKE SURE YOUR BOX IS PROPERLY PACKED TO PROTECT FURTHER ..TAKE PICS OF THE PROCESS JUST COVER ALL YOUR BASES BECAUSE WITH EVERY INSURANCE THEY ALWAYS HAVE QUESTIONS AND MORE QUESTIONS ON HOW YOU PACKED IT
THEY ALWAYS TRY AND GET OUT OF PAYING SOMEHOW !!
SO A LITTLE HEADS UP.
WHERE DO YA'LL LIVE MAYBE IT MIGHT BE BEST TO TAKE IT AND HAND DELIVER IT TO A AUTHENTICATOR AND USUALLY HE WILL DO IT ON THE SPOT FOR A SMALL FEE !!
IN MY OPINION I LIKE DWAIN ROGER'S OR JEFF BAKER
AND THE FELLA WITH THE BLADE IS MY LITTLE BUDDY SH OR HAL
Sandy, In some very recent posts about how prices are established in the Oversteet money book,
someone suggested that some high prices were based on declared insured mailing rates. It's gotta be high to
cover the personal find value.
At first I thought you might be refering to insuring in your residence, in which case, most homeowners policys can be modified to cover flint collections the same as they do for Gun and coin collections.
Re "ceremonial " blade. Lets not go through that burial crap again !
There are 3 witnesses plus loads of insitu pics to show that it was laying in a heavy fire rock level along with all the other Perds, Montells and "normal" points.
It's exactly 9 inches long and a cat's whisker over 1/4 of an inch at its thickest point.
Two independent professional apraisers declared " it was far too delicate to be trully utilitarian, it was probably ceremonial "
There WERE other ceremonies other than burials. . .
like a birthday present !
when my husband was young, he showed it to some old Indians, and that is where he said he was told it was ceremonial...also he was told that it was taboo for a whiteman to own this, the best thing he could do would be to destroy it and throw it in his worst enenmies backyard, lol.Thats what he was told, so as far as what ceremony this was for or presentation, evidently, the superstiton of the Indians was very strong, so hubby put it up until just recently. He does not even keep it inside the house, lol, he has it buried.
Regardless of what it is, I would like to know, I want to do some more photos of it, as that is my hobby, but he wont dig it up, yet..he is scared to handle it afraid it might get dropped or broken.
just a post note, if I have offened anyone here, I am sorry.Truly. I do not know much about arrowheads, and have always admitted this, but I do not cheat anyone nor do I want to be cheated...I came here looking for information and thats it...we did have hopes that a few of the "points" that my husband has were worth something, for medical reasons, well, actaully I am blind in one eye because of alarger than normal cataract for my age and I cant live blind, so we had hopes that it might help us, but be assured we had NO intentions of ripping anyone off or being ripped off...we have lived on a low income for the last 2 1/2 yrs since I lost my job..but we pay our own bills and buy our own food, I have worked since I was 13 yrs old and what I own I own because of what i make, not what I take.
If at anytime I have offended anyone's intergrity here, I am sorry.
What I have posted I know we had nothing to do with the making of...whatever it is...is as it was found.
As I have said at the other site,I am looking for information on what we have, because we do want to sale them. but under no circumstances will they be sold until I know what they are...we will not cheat anyone and hopefully not be cheated... a fair price..thats it.
Sandy, I dont see where any apologies are required. There might be some confusion as we seem to be mixing
comments between two different postings and thus a given answer might not fit !
Some comments on a "ceremonial" blade I took to be in reference to a dug up 9 inch piece of flint, NOT a much smaller point a youngster found on the surface.
Tell hubby to stop worrying about a Hex on that beautiful, transparent point. . . . If it was so mystical, it would not have been left out on the surface !
Brad Crate Its Called a ceremonial Knife because they had a big ceremony when they got it back. I wasn't their but i can from the web site they celebrated with a few beers after they got it back.
hey you guys.let me ask you this. if you were hunting, would you use this piece? we were told it was ceremonial...ok...i am not saying it is...just an opinion that was given to us a few yreas back...I will have it certified as soon as possible and then we will all know, ok...to me it is too thin and differnet to use for hunting...
