Need to know if it is OK to glue a broken arrowhead back together or should I send in for repair/restoration or just leave it the way it is. I do not want to hurt what little value is left. It is a 4.5" Barber that I would rate a G-9/G10. Some say museum quality. Any advice?
Thanks!
If it's a dark colored point I would take a tiny bit of super glue and glue it on the inside not the outside where you can see the glue when it's dry. I took a toothpick and wet the very end and put 2 tiny, tiny, tiny dots and that worked well. If it's a lighter colored piece it will never look exactly right because a crack in flint is dark and it will show up regardless of how well the pieces fit. But a dark point will hide the dark crack. That's just what I think.
Barber is a rare type, and one of that size, grade, and quality is well worth sending off to Dr. Gomer for a professional repair job in order to preserve it's maximum value as a repaired point. If anyone can make the break disappear, him and T-bone can do the best job possible. It is what I would do in this situation, for the best results.
