This is a half-time report. The Fredricsburg flint show looked a brillient success. Parking lot filled to overflowing, inside, wall to wall diggers [ and looky sees ]
I stayed much longer than usual. In addition to the dealer displays, it's always neat to see that toilet paper unrolled with a newly dug treasure.
I was standing at Dwain Roger's table and a really old [ OLDER than Casey ] guy pulled up and unrolled a piece of flint that was at least 9 inches long, only 1 3/4 inches wide, a gorgeous base. NO evidence of damage. Wish I had stayed to see what it was !
Indoor show pics never do it justice, here's a try...
That young lady waving at the camera is our very own Pat E.
Sorry I missed you. Was kinda looking forward to running into ya. Talked with Mike a bit. Showed him a couple of my heartbreakers. It was pretty dang crowded, so that's probably why I didn't see you there. Bought some new display frames, wanted to buy some points, mabbe next time. Think there's another one in Lulling in May and we'll have more money after cleaning out the casinos in La.
Lee, nice to have met you! Those were some killer clovis points you had! Wish I could have gotten the white one from Bexar co. Hell of a find from this county! Jay
Yeah, I had Perino's first and second, autographed in person when we met him years ago. I also saw Dan Davises book for sell. I bought one #'d and autographed years back at the Cotulla Hog Cook-Off. Knew they had gone up in value, but not that much. Dang, now my books are worth more then my points. Really thought about buying Perino's third book, bought too many cases and my wallet was wearing thin. And the wife wanted to go antique shopping in town.
Lee, you arachnia rascal ! Your last post to somebody said you were shooting for 10A arrival. . . . I delayed my arrival til 0930 [ darn near couldn't find a parking space ] stayed til 1130.
I wanted to see the new spider tattoo.
Of the people I met they all asked after you,
Mr Wilson of the IRS, Sam H., of INS, Joel V. of ?
That was a great crowd, easy to miss seeing me, I was wearing a clean shirt. Visited with cave man Mike also, what a neat profession, cave exploration and security. All by invitation that few others of the general public may never see... . . . AND , JOB SECURITY in these times, What a resume filler for a GIECO salesman !
Next show possibilities in that part of the world is in BOERNE in March, date not yet posted.
Shows for the Northerners, Feb & Apr.
The other flint Doc { Leslie } was there, Temple show sign ups are ahead of schedule and will be more advertised now that it's a Sa & Su event. ACTUALLY for those professional collectors, Friday afternoon is the day to make your deals before they are seen by the common weekend riff raff !
