Cherokee County

Anyone here ever dig in Cherokee County Texas? Where? How? What to look for?

Re: Cherokee County

Surface hunting usually come before tearing up the terra firma. The Leon river drainages, at least farther SE are very rich in sites and artifacts.
Camp sites and / or hunting party "refreashment" stops were always close to water, walk the drainages even small ones. After you find some worked piece or flint flakes, look back in the past Point chatter postings for "how to" proceed info.

There is a pay dig site, next county over from you. Where Rt 22 crosses the Leon. Then WAY DOWN the Leon
drainages is the Chrisners pay dig.
