New Dig @ Segovia

Here's what we got. The woman's name is Beverly McKinnerney. She is the night shift manager at the EconoLodge at the truck stop. Her night # at the motel is 325-446-2475. She doesn't have a home phone at this time but her daughters # is 325-446-7205. When Ronny talked to her a while back she was way undercharging at $30.00 a day for digs, but she may have gone up since then.
He saw some of the points that came out of the site and he was really impressed. He believes there are some other dig sites in the area and some that might need a little exploring/coaxing of the land owners to open up for future digs.
And Will, that EPA deal that they were talking about, Linda, the manager there that works for Ronny, told him that they had a leak in one of their underground tanks and lost 33,000 gallons of fuel. They think they have it under control.
We'll be at the show in Boerne around noon. Gotta stop in SA and put the wife Kirby vacuum cleaner in the hospital. I think it had cardiac arrest. Once we leave it with the doctor we'll head up there.
And SH, the Coushatta Indians are very happy that we came. They're about 4 grand richer. Can't buy that hummer, but a good down payment on one of Jerry's 4 wheelers.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

ha ha very funny , im so dang sore after four days of hard riding those canyons i might just give one of em to ya lol

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

One I liked the best at the casino is you always see people getting around with walkers with tennis balls on the back two legs. Except for one guy, he had camoflauged balls on his walker. Guess he thought nobody would notice his walker because it was camo'd. .

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Te [ & Will ] More good info,, sounds like the scoop on the Beverly site is immenent.
The present diggers wont be too happy with new visitors to their private reserve.!
Be nice if they could just limit it to common diggers, the professionals will just hound Bev to tears if they dont get a bucket of G-10s per visit.

Well if you pro rate the "vacation" cost, ONCE A YEAR ONLY to sate the Gambling bug, thats really not a lot of money. . . . .BUT . . . .some people are moving to
gambling in TX. Oh, woe is you !!!! You wont be able to afford even used balls on your walker !

As a matter of curiosity, how long does it actually take to shove $4,000. worth of nickles into a single slot ?

In your absence,, , , , , Spring has sprung in TX

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Started off with $5 slots, won a little, then $1's,then 50cent, keeped migrating down. It was nickels by Wed. morn. It was more crowded then I've ever seen it on midweek. 67 buses came in on one day. Will be glad when they open up casinos here. Kickapoo is only an hour and a half away put I wasn't really too impressed.
I saw at least three people there that I knew were dead still playing the slots. Told the wife that casinos are where all the dregs of humanity go, then she reminded me that we were there so I shut up. Had her up front with a sign "Will Gamble For Change" but she only made $8.00 in two hours.
It's a 7 hour drive from here 3 hours in I10 and 4 hours to get thro Houston.
Our son met us there and I told him to watch, as we were spending his inheritence. He said he didn't mind as long as we were feeding his machine too.
Hopefully Will can get a chance and check out the Segovia dig and give us the feedback.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

And no SH, we go more often then once a year. Either to La. or New Mexico. We hit casino's from Tx. to Mont. last year. 11 in all. Paid for the trip with our wins with money left over. We stay away from Vegas. I like the smaller, seedier ones. Can't pass up all that free comp. Think I'll put bowling balls on my walker. That'll slow me down a little.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Where exactly is this dig?

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Don't know for sure. The woman mentioned above has it on her property. Ronny said it was north of Segovia. I'm thinking (speculating) north of Kerrville, mabbe off of Hwy. 16. It's too far for us to go as there are closer ones in Bandera/Pipe Creek area. I just posted this one so anyone in Kerrville area has one closer to go to.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Has anyone contacted Beverly? Does she expect people to call her at work? More info PLEASE!!!

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

I think that was the general idea. Either contact her at work or at her daughters phone # during the day. Once again all I'm doing is relaying what I was told. The property is hers. I don't know if someone esle is running the dig for her or she is in charge. If you live in that area you might even go by there. I don't know what her hours are, all I was told by Linda (manager of the truck stop) is that she is the night shift manager at the EconoLodge.
I was also told that there are other dig sites in the area.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Thats a very enviable life style Te, especially if it at least breaks even $ wise. I went out on that "gambling" ship out of Port A years ago. Strictly a summer time cruise for me, well worth the $15. [ but I weakened before the trip was over and gave them another twenty bucks ]

Happy Vaccum and flint show day !

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Thanks Tehuacana, appreciate the research .I'm gonna call see if I can make a trip. try to post any finds on message board.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Good deal, Will. Hope everything works out. I sure don't want to feel like a plucked chicken on this. Ronny is 70 yrs. old and not the type to pull peoples legs. So that's why I trusted him when he was telling me about the dig. I'm not much into the red-faced look of embarressment or blowing smoke.
Tehuacana.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

your already not the plucked chicken Teh. Imade the phone call, and there is such a person and there is such a place.Soooo no worries I'll keep you posted.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

I sure do appreciate that. Always worry when I'm relaying other peoples information. Is she fair on her prices? Ronny had mentioned her undercharging at $30. Man, now that word is out, she'll probably have to earn an honest living as a dig site manager instead of a motel manager. Least it'll be a day job. Ronny did mention that he believes there are other digs in the area so you might want to keep your ears open.
Thanks
Tehuacana

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

hey Teh,I,m gonna try to go next weekend ,she seems like a really nice woman.said they used to have pay dig to make ends meet.it is now a non issue and dig was closed due to RULE ABUSE and LITTERING.duh! Any ways fair pricing definately Ihope it doesn't get to big because Idon't think that's what she wants, and I don't want to be the guy that causes the uneccesary headaches you know "break the peace" I don't want to ruin a great opportunity due to an overwhelming amount of calls or diggers.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Ronny had mentioned when she first opened things were going smooth, then they started taking advantage and even bringing in their own backhoes. Sheesh, people can't even use common sense. Like 20 buzzards circling around one dead rabbit. Hope you find a bucket of G10's. Keep us posted. Little far out of our norm. but Melvin'll end up talking us into going if it looks good. Dang him.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Thanks for the luck Teh .I'll send pics . I think now I'm gonna go dig in my bird mound better n nothin

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Well anything new in flintdom is good but now we need to find a NEW scape chicken and an antique leg puller!

Might be hard to locate in this economy !
Anyone know if Leonard made it through the winter ?

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Any volunteers? I did my stint in the hot seat so we need another victim.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Beverly used to have a small camp between New London and Junction, on the north Llano. Was over dug. Would like to hear more of this one.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Don't know where it's at. Ronny said it was north of Segovia, possibly Pedernales river area. Will is checking it out, so we'll get an official update hopefully by this weekend.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Hope he has better luck.
Ronny said that he'd heard of other digs in the area. You heard anything about them?

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

The camp Mike is talking about sounds like the same one I dug in 6 or 7 years ago. Northeast of Junction off Hwy 377. It is a small mound above the north bank of the Llano that has been dug pretty hard.

Maybe she is leasing a different mound nowadays, if it is the same one, finds probably will be meager.

Hope you have good luck!

jh

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Supposed to have inherited the land. That's all I've been told as to how she acquired the property. Ronny made it sound like it was pretty recent.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Nate,

Only went once. We didn't find a keeper between 7 or 8 of us. Maybe Mike W had better luck.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

will be going sun .this seems to be a hot topic .I talked to her today ,she said two diggers this weekend made finds and she researched ......prices may be going up ,but i'm excited I can't wait

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

You think it's the same one that Nate and Mike are talking about Will? Or a new one? The info. that I got sounded like this was pretty recent.

Re: New Dig @ Segovia

Appreciate it. Just going on what I was told. Hope Will finds a hot spot.
We'll be hitting Nacho's again real soon. Talked to him at Boerne and they were digging in a new area and doing good. He's a lot closer for us. Melvin's trying to set up another dig on another site.
