Re: Williams Base Tang Knife

Photobucket I could not get your point to come up so I found it on google and am putting it on. Nice find, we have found a few base tangs but that may be better that all of ours.w

Re: Williams Base Tang Knife

The Williams type is characterized by an expanded rounded base. The Castroville type is distinctive for its broad and generally straight stem. The two types overlap age wise and were probably made by the same people.

Re: Williams Base Tang Knife

nice knife

Re: Williams Base Tang Knife

very impressive

Re: Williams Base Tang Knife

Redman's observation is right on the money, a castroville base tang...........too bad about the nicked ear. Almost a complete find. Still, very nice indeed.
