Well, I would say that Snails are Not......THE.......answer for finding points, but they are one of several suitable characteristics where points are often found. In archaic times, snails were a source of high protien. Indians ate things that you and I would wretch at the thought of. Fresh water musscle shells were another favorite. Some of the best middens I have dug in were well loaded with the shells of each. So, essentially Yes, they are usually a good sign to watch for.
