Base Tang

Here is the one and only Base Tang I have ever found. Very ugly but I love her. Found in Fayette Co. It about 5 1/2 in long. Nice patina on one side.

Re: Base Tang

NICE FIND

LOOKS LIKE A ENSOR KNIFE I FOUND ONE TIME

Re: Base Tang

can we get another pic please?

Re: Base Tang

I'm not sure that "Base Tang" is the right classification for this artifact. It has small notches on the base so that's what I'm calling it. Any comments about what it may be are appreciated. I'm all ears. I can take more pictures if needed.

Re: Base Tang

Well, I find your assessment quite reasonable. It appears to have an unusual symetry in the area of the edge damage. I am left with a sense of intrigue about what it looked like before the damage! Was this a surface find? Thank You for sharing it with us.

Re: Base Tang

It might have been a San Saba when it was new, after considerable re-sharpening.

Re: Base Tang

I would say that it favors a San Saba. Nice find
