The wife and I went out to a buddies ranch yeterday afternoon and did a little surface hunting. These are some of the better points we found on a sandstone hill overlooking the Leona River. One good uniface cresent scrapper, a heartbreaker Carrizo, and broke Perd. and of course, the ever present So.Tx. knives, that we are soooooo familiar with. Found about 20+ more brokes, all knives.
That Carrizo certainly catches the eye, good one. The youngest age shown for that model is 4000 YBP
and your the first one to scan that part of TX since then.
No, Steve, unfortunately I don't sell any of my finds, even the brokes. But I'll look around and see if any of the other surface hunters will. Might even find somebody that will part with a whole one. I've only found 2 whole ones and three broke points in 30+ years. Sorry
You are like me I don't sell anything I find.I don't like to ask about artifacts for sale but its so nice and I couldn't help my self. They sure are rare and hard to find or buy.Anyways very nice find.If you get a chance please post pictures of other ones.
Know what you mean Steve. Part of it is parting with them, and the other part is knowing I'd be making money off of somebody elses generosity. Don't think the land owner would like it if he found out I was hunting on his place for free, then selling everything I found. I know I wouldn't if it was my ranch.
I gave a #3 cast iron wash pot full of brokes away several years ago, and a friend was telling me how much money I could have made selling them at the shows. I don't care about the money, I'd rather give the brokes to somebody that doesn't have a place hunt or has never had the luck of finding one.
Of course, as I told geo, I did get THE LOOK from the wife after she found out what I'd done. That's ok, done started another pot full.
I did post one of the other carrizo's here a while back on my post on surface finds.
