I see that TJ is closing down in a month. I have not been to the site so I am looking for information. They indicate that Camp Wood is closing. Is this the Vanderpool site or Shoepeg? Has anyone been there recently and have the finds been good or dug out? I would sure like to give it a try so I hope the digger community will give me some good flint information. Directions to the dig would ne nice as well. Any help here? Thanks! Idahoe

The only campwood digsite is the shoepeg as far as I know. I havent been in about a year (they have been in the new site) But the last time I went there was still good stuff getting found. The shoepeg has been dug pretty good, but I wouldnt call it done. I had many people tell me it was washed up 2 years ago and have had some great days. Some of the best quality I have seen came from down there. I would call cyrus for directions, its really easy just a couple miles outside of campwood. They will usually offer a place to camp if you want too get there a day early. I will attach a picture of my best shoepeg point. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the information. I did chat with Cyrus and good stuff is being found. Its the private dig site that is going public for the next thirty days. We are heading down this weekend with lots of water, maybe a beer or two. That is a great point..Cyrus says he may get some pics up later tonight of a 6 inch Ango Knife found today and some Andice. good luck with that andice. I have one from there with both ears gone. Seen a few nice ones come out across the sifter.

Cyrus called me on it last week. It's a private site, not Shoepeg or Vanderpool. It's located near the old Spanish mission (Misson San Lorenzo de la Santa Cruz) in Campwood.
We're planning a trip out there soon, be the last one for a while, gotta save up for our semi-annual donation to the casino. Gotta make the Indian Gods happy.

Am hoping my pile will be bigger then that when we get back. I think we paid for all the improvements they've done out there last time. Think that new motel should be named after me. Melvin thinks I ought to spend it on more digs instead of giving it away. He might be right. Had better luck at the digs then the casino. They just don't give away free beer at the digs.
