Sat 8-8 finds and question

I went out today to dig my regular 4 hours and even though the date is the 8th and some claim it to be unlucky, I do not believe in such things. Anyway this is what I came up with. I am sorry for no hole shots by my better half had the camera. My 1st question is the projectile next to the two perds what they call a Darl?

I was digging rather deep. Actually I thought too deep. But what is too deep? I thought I heard voices but could not make out what they were saying. Looking down into the orange or red dirt I call it I found this

At first I did not know what to think. What had if found? Took my digging tool and tapped it and the mystery was solved. I must have been digging to deep.Well maybe not.

Later Dig Hard, Dig Deep, Dig!

Re: Sat 8-8 finds and question

I might say Travis the stem looks to long for Darl

Re: Sat 8-8 finds and question

Based upon the distinct medial ridge and blade shape, if you knocked the point out of a middle to late archic layer, I would take a check out Kent points.

Re: Sat 8-8 finds and question

We can all take a shot at typography ! At least we can definitly rule out a Darl !
If it was mine, I would call it a CARROLTON.
That pip squeek on the right needs a more prominent central position. Sure looks like a MARTINDALE. Very nice oldie.

Good points all, , , including the clunker Perd.

At first quick look at the next pic, before reading words, , ,I thought, , , " what the heck is THIS ?
A COMMERCIAL ?? "
I thought it was the south end of the Pillsbury MUFFIN MAN.

V. Clever !

Re: Sat 8-8 finds and question

Could it be a Wells?
Maybe a Morrill?
