LABOR DAY WK END FINDS

Badger could only find a 1/2 day in her weekend of BBQ's & water sking for some dirt slingin. . .

Opening pic, pointing to area where a tip was discovered. . .

Bit fuzzy due to low light way in the back. So far it's unbroken. . .

Photobucket

Bettern a slice of watermellon. . . .

Photobucket

Refer back to top pic, unrecognised at the time, Badgers right foot is pointing at a very nice small
MATATE. laying in on the left side of that major rock ! ! !

Photobucket

Sorta Matate insitu, you can just see the hole it was pried out of. I wish I had a sound
recording of the iron scraping and the gruntin & cussin [ would have been deleted ]

Photobucket

Nice wear pattern ......

Photobucket

Best of show, San Gabriel & Covington blades with a 3 5/8 inch Perd for scale, all sitting on a very heavy to carry Metate

Photobucket

Bottom line for the visit. . .

Photobucket

I was there too . . . Tried to show the thinness of a point but its slightly angled. But it IS Montell thin, , ,

Photobucket

This is a " hold it in your hand insitu " Just didnt want to part with that rock it was living with the last few thousand years !

The descriptive words did not come out in the right places, I been at this since 0400 this morn.
I just cant do it all again, You'll figure it out.

Re: LABOR DAY WK END FINDS

Good job Hal,Perds Perds everywhere,Im gonna try a new spot today.

Re: LABOR DAY WK END FINDS

let's see that last point in situ cleaned up

Re: LABOR DAY WK END FINDS

Heeer Ya go Trav.
Its Montell thin but de-dirted looks more like a la Jita which I dont care for as their very rare in this area. Maybe the knapper was just about to notch it !

Thats not a gorgeous piece of opal white flint, it's the "washed down " sun bleched Yech !
