Went to TJ's for some hand diggin in Vanderpool 9-29-2009
The ground was super soft, but no mud.... It was awesome overcast.. About 79-80 most the day... Looked around for a few minutes to pick out my spot for some exercise of picking and shoveling... After 5 fast hours I had 10 brokes and one awesome mano.. Decided I'd go looking for a tastier spot to spend the balance of my energy on. Found a newly dug test hole with a nice layer in the wall. The wall is one of the richest flint, fire rock, snail, flint, and the most thinest and in abundance large shards of flint that I have seen. Dug at it for two hours and didnt find a single broke. Got up and sat on top and scraping at the top a 1.5" edwards showed its pretty head. A few minutes later I found the other broke edwards. I had to go, but wanna get back in that hole...

Was that in the perdiz midden? We did a little screening there and Flicker found a covington, and we found a couple of perdiz points, then moved back over to the main site till we got rained out.

Good report W, I especially like the words describing how the dig progressed. I live by your technique of
finding a good spot to " spend the rest of my energy on. "
