Yesterday, Friday, Oct. 16 at 3:30pm, while walking a Kansas waterway looking for artifacts, I find my BEST find of the year! After 23 years, with many miles of looking & hundreds of hours searching, I had always hoped to find the most coveted point that artifact people all dream of finding, a CLOVIS point. Well, here it is "In-Situ" as I saw it under perhaps only 2" of water! I never figured I would be lucky enough to ever find one, yet there it was, I did'nt know at first it was a clovis, till I picked it up & then noticed the tell tale fluteing it had, very noticeable on 1 side & there as well on both sides, I am stoked & feel triple blessed...........John F. in KS
WOO-HOO great find!! 23 years paid off I guess, that is a nice point, and to find it completely intact!! And you stopped to take in-situ's!! Thanks and congrats, closest I've ever got is a nice plainview. I guess the next step is to find the bank it washed out of...
The 3 stage insitu pics really tell the story. I've taken some extra tme to study the close up.
Nice flint, looks really sharply detailed edges and as best I can see from the pic, the sides have that
very subtle pinching in.
Using more imagintion. . . What would the last hand to hold it that way would have looked like ??
AND what behemouth was in Kansas 9000 years ago that the manufacturer was planning to use that on ?
Now that is sweet right there. You have in your hand what most can only dream about. Thanks for letting us share your incredible find.
Happy Hunting. AL.C
awsome find. Congrats on that one!!! Maybe one day I will be that lucky. Thanks for taking the insitu pics and sharing it with us.
If I found that point I would probably be so excited that I would forgat about taking pics or anything.
Thanks guys for all the comments & congrats, may YOU all be blessed to happen upon a paleo treasure yoursleves, as we all keep searching, walking, digging etc....... John F. in KS

Tried taking your advice John, went out to search on Wednesday for a local Clovis. NO LUCK, all I could find was a broken Hardin that is only 9000 yrs old !
See posting,, , , GAME BALL ?
Actually Hal this clovis is to date my all time BEST find ever from KS, I gotta tell ya. All I'm waiting on now is to find a longer Clovis from that same area & I now that may or may not happen, but I'm still gonna keep on looking......... John
Hal, Thanks for bringing this post back, a memory burned in my brain that really humbled me that fall day in October of 2009. I hope to repeat it someday & to all that are still looking for the elusive clovis, don't give up, just keep looking, because it can happen when you least expect it. There are more of them out there, in every state.....John
