Re: perdernales essentric & early triangle from 09
Yes, two unique finds, nice.
Small detail. . . On that excentric / practice piece, the identifiable base looks Perd {y} But the related barb is way too long, more like extreme Marshalls !
Someone in the Marshal family pickup a Perd and deceided to use it for practice ?
Re: perdernales essentric & early triangle from 09
it sure is a strange artifact, the midden we were digging is loaded with perds, we would unearth bout 4 perds to every one of another point type.Just curious, but what makes it a marshall and not a perd?
Re: perdernales essentric & early triangle from 09
I thought Marshall at first, but after examining the pics more closely the point seems to have bifurcation flute on both sides, is it possible that a Marshall might have these as well?
Re: perdernales essentric & early triangle from 09
It just does not seem to match classic looks, maybe a third party, like a Castroville family member picked up a found point and was practicing.
Now that we're putting such extreme scrutiny on such a small piece. . . .The other end is starting to look like an "umbrella" drill. [ thats where there are 3 barbs with the center one being the longest ]
Hard to see in the pic if the tip is actually broken off or knapped that short.
