Dug this point out today in mud! It's tough siftin mud, but i am quite excited! It was worth it! It is exactly 2 inches, serrated, and has oblique transverse flaking! Thin as I've ever seen!
It appears to be a bonham point, at least from the books. I don't have any experience with this type as it is out of our range. Another candidate may be rockwall, but bonham is what comes to mind first.
Thanks! I just can't believe I actually dug it up! I'm really excited! I've always wanted a killer bird point! No kiddin I actually found a horseshoe right off the bat, then this point! Cool day!
Beauty covers it nicely, I'm not sure what superlative ranks higher.
If thats with tough digging / screening, 2010 is going to be memorable.
We dont like to sully and degrade found treasures with crude references to money BUT, , , Have you seen the book value in the Overstreet 11th for their top
of the line BONHAM
And THAT example is 1/16th of an inch shorter, and the barbs are not as long, and your serations are better.
. . . . .
So bonham it is! That's great! I knew it was a killer before I even washed it off with water! I'm diggin a slight hill in a sand/clay soil pasture! A huge spring is flowing into a creek about 8 yds away! There is a 20 ft cliff down to creek and I'm right above it! This point was about 1 1/2 ft deep! Found a beautful birdy preform( broke) the load before I hit this point! A few flakes here and there and some sporadic burnt rock in groups! Thanks guys for the replys and info!
Well, that sure explains why they camped where they did with that nice perrenial spring there. Sounds like a great place to dig. Best of Luck with more great finds!
