Texas Dig Finds !

We have had so much rain, and I cant dig, so I decided to post some nice points and blades. My diggin implements are rusting.. The sun is supposed to shine for the next few days so I am hoping to make a trip to Rolands soon for some more good finds. I was really inpressed with Gman finds so I hope for some Nueces River good times! For some reason, probably year-round water, that River is blessed with great diggin sites. I hope you enjoy the various examples of Covingtons, snap base, Darl, Kenny blade, a small base tang, early tringle, Langtry and a bunch of good stuff. Flint fever is terrible when all I have is mud, for now... I hope you enjoy the pictures. Diggin Texas is a blast!

Re: Texas Dig Finds !

Rotten WX sure brings the good things out of the closet. Good show, thats a lot of blades.

Which one are you refering to as "snapped base"

Re: Texas Dig Finds ! Snap Base

Hal. It looks Snappy to me. Thoughts? Something else? Its 4.2 inches and the only one I have.

Re: Texas Dig Finds ! Snap Base

Your allowed to call it as you will, , , IF it was mine, I would NOT call it snapped, just the thin cortex base of a nice blade.

Re: Texas Dig Finds ! Snap Base

What would the blade be? I appreciate your input

Re: Texas Dig Finds !

After necent ID's on "Darl blades " and " squaw blades " [ that seems to include 9000 years of anything that cuts ]. . . . . I cant put a name to your blade. A lot of points & blades seem to be worked with the cortex at the base, is that a hint of cortex color on that big golden blade ?

Re: Texas Dig Finds !

Yup, it is called a Red-Tipped Salmon Blade aka Golden Covington. We use those blades up north to shred potatoes. The Salmon migrate up the Columbia from Oregon all the way to my backyard in Idaho just to get those Spuds!
